Kristen and Aaron were one week away from their wedding when she was in a horrific motorcycle accident. However, trauma proved no match for determination, love, and the miracle workers at Regional One Health’s Elvis Presley Trauma Center.

As Kristen committed herself to getting stronger, her health care team jumped into action to plan a wedding at the hospital’s chapel – and prove that exceptional health care is about more than just medicine. "They weren’t just good about getting me through therapy, they talked with me and laughed with me. That is when I went from feeling like my life was over to realizing I can still do things and I can keep getting stronger," Kristen says.

High blood pressure is often called the “silent” condition because it may not cause noticeable symptoms but it can still affect your long-term health. The good news is that it can be managed.

Checking your blood pressure regularly, reducing salt, staying active, and following your provider’s treatment plan all play an important role. When healthy lifestyle changes are combined with the right medication, they can significantly lower your risk of serious complications.

Know your numbers. Take steady steps. Protect your health for the future.

Regional One Health’s Maternal One Model (MOM) Program is designed to connect expectant moms with the health care and social support resources they need to thrive. By helping patients access regular prenatal care along with transportation, healthy food, baby supplies, and more, the program is making a real difference in the community.

Leaders say MOM is not only improving the health and wellbeing of mothers and their babies, it is building stronger, healthier families. “Providing access to medical care is essential, but it isn’t enough. We need to bridge the gaps between the patient and community resources they need so they can truly improve their health," says Program Manager Jehan Ellis.
