We are honored to recognize a gift made in memory of Karla Prouty (pictured here) by her loving siblings, celebrating her incredible dedication to children and families in our community. Karla was the longest-tenured employee at the Ronald McDonald House in Portland, where she devoted 24 years of service to ensuring families are supported with comfort and care during their most challenging times.

This gift ensures that MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital continues to deliver outstanding, compassionate care, honoring Karla’s mission to support children and families. Through our collaboration with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine in Portland, families find a welcoming space close to the hospital that provides essentials like nourishing meals, laundry, coffee, and a place to rest – comforts that make a big difference when families need it most.

Karla’s legacy will live on through every family helped by this meaningful contribution. 💙

**Some good news on this cold, wintery day**

We are incredibly proud to announce that the PLC of the Northeast—with the help of our incredible partners—raised $292,746 this past year for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals—Northern Light Health/Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland and the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital in Burlington, Vermont.

Whether you played at one of our golf tournaments, participated in the auction at our Annual Meeting, or sent in a donation of support, this win belongs to you. Every dollar stays in Maine and Vermont to support families when they need it most.

Our industry is about more than just timber; it’s about taking care of our own and our neighbors. Huge thanks to every contractor, member, and sponsor who stepped up!

MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital's partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) dates back to 1989, when a telethon benefiting the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland Pediatric Department, raised $29,683 to support families across Maine and northern New England. Since then, our organizations have joined forces to raise millions more! 🎉

Now, Children's Miracle Network (CMN) has a fresh new look! The organization has officially dropped “Hospitals” from its name to make it clear that CMN is not a hospital; it’s the only children's charity prioritizing the health for all kids. 💛🩵

Every donation stays local, helping meet the most critical needs of children's hospitals like MHBBCH — from life-saving treatments and advanced equipment to research and family support. Look for the iconic balloon as a symbol of hope and brighter futures for all kids, including those at MHBBCH.

While we have already welcomed several babies in 2026, we couldn't leave 2025 behind without sharing a photo of our Delivery Tree at the Family Birth Center at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. Each one of these leaves represents a brand new Mainer born at our Portland hospital -- 3,589 in all last year! Thank you to every family who has trusted us with their care.

A belated congratulations to Cassidy Storey Demick and Griffen Demick on the birth of Theo Bella Demick, MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland's first baby of the new year!

Theo was born New Year's Day at 7:52 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long.

Cassidy and Griffen told us, "Our baby girl was ready to celebrate and be celebrated so in our eyes, there was no better time.” So much to celebrate indeed!
