Happy World Kindness Day!

Today is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day, and strengthen our own mental wellness. Research shows that when we practice kindness, we experience more connection, less stress, and a boost in overall well-being.

At Samaritan, we see every day how compassion creates hope. As you go about your day, we invite you to do one small kind thing for a friend, a stranger, or yourself.

Together, we can plant seeds of kindness that grow into roots of resilience across our community!

Friendly competition and full bellies at Samaritan today! Six staff members competed for the title of Chilifest Champion, but the real winners were the rest of the staff who enjoyed a delicious meal!

Congrats to Jo and Tricia who tied for first place, and Patty and Ro who tied for third.

Today, we pause to honor and thank all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish do not go unnoticed.

We are especially grateful for our colleague Mahan Koirala, Director of Resources, for his service to our country and his ongoing dedication to Samaritan’s mission of providing hope and healing.

At Samaritan, we recognize that the strength of our community is rooted in compassion, resilience, and service: values embodied by our veterans every day.

Last month, Samaritan staff and board members came together for a strategic planning session: collaborating, dreaming, and setting direction for the years ahead. We are deeply grateful for our volunteer Board of Directors, who generously invest their time, insight, and care to help Samaritan grow stronger and serve our community with compassion.

Their leadership helps us plant seeds of hope and grow roots of resilience for years to come. You can learn more about our dedicated board and how they help guide our mission on our website. https://samaritanfoxvalley.com/about/board-members/

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Jenna Goddeyne!

As a Wellness Screen Clinician, Jenna helps identify students in local schools who may need mental health support. Her dedication, initiative, and compassion make a lasting impact every day.

Her supervisor, Tricia Plutz, shared: “Jenna consistently takes initiative, follows through on tasks, and contributes in meaningful ways without needing to be asked—all while screening in one of our busiest school districts. After completing her own work, Jenna frequently takes initiative to complete program tasks without being prompted, demonstrating a willingness to support broader program needs and goals.”

Thank you, Jenna, for the heart and commitment you bring to your work and to the students and families you serve. You are helping plant seeds of hope in our community every day.

We are so very thankful for the support of the J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc.

The important work of Samaritan Wellness Screen would not be possible without the generosity of our community.

🧠𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 & 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🧠

The Samaritan Wellness Screen program is vital early intervention tool helping students across 7 school districts access mental health care when they need it most.

In 2024–25, nearly 4,900 students were screened—and over 37% of middle and high schoolers and 39% of elementary students showed signs of possible mental health concerns. These numbers have remained consistent, underscoring the urgent and ongoing need for accessible support.

One recent example reminds us why this work matters: an elementary student experiencing suicidal thoughts couldn’t get to an appointment. Samaritan’s team acted quickly, arranging an emergency Zoom session and coordinating with school staff to ensure safety and follow-up care. Today, that child is on a better path—and his family has the resources they need.
