Our Story

If you are just starting out on your journey to a healthy weight and are looking for guidance, if you are working on maintaining a healthy weight and you are looking for support, or if you are somewhere in between, you have come to the right place! After the 2011 LIFE Study revealed that more than 60% of residents in the Fox Valley are overweight or obese, we knew we had to take action. We held a summit last year on this issue and the Fox Valley HealthCare Coalition, Oshkosh and Fox Cities United Ways and ThedaCare’s Community Health Action Team came together to create The Weight of the Fox Valley, a new three-county initiative to address obesity. Why is this issue so important to us as a community? Because being overweight affects individuals and our entire community in so many ways. Being overweight has numerous negative consequences physically, socially, psychologically and economically. But, we want to change that trend in our community, and we can! The Weight of the Fox Valley will have six action teams: • Active Communities • Worksite • Early Care and Education • School • Healthcare • Food System We hope that you join us for this exciting opportunity to come together to improve the health of our community!
