Staff Spotlight: Growing Together at RTI

Josh joined RTI in June of 2014 as an ILS worker. Not long after, he stepped into a Program Manager role supporting several of our Supported Apartment programs before going on to create and lead RTI’s Recreation and Wellness Program in 2017.
Josh was drawn to this field because he enjoys supporting individuals with mental illness and creating opportunities for connection through groups, activities, and community outings.

Over the years, Josh has taken great pride in building the Recreation and Wellness Program while continuing to shape it alongside the individuals he supports listening to their ideas for groups and activities and helping turn those ideas into reality.

Through recreation and community engagement, Josh helps individuals build peer support networks and discover resources within their communities. Watching the people he works with grow in their confidence and skills over the past decade has also inspired Josh to continue growing professionally.
At RTI, growth goes both ways, we support the people we serve while empowering our staff to grow along the way.

Two rec events, double the fun!

We started our gathering in the kitchen, whipping up some delicious tacos, enjoying fantastic food and great company. After that, transitioning to our craft event, where participants created stunning diamond paintings, some engaged in rounds of quidditch, while others cheered on the Olympics.

From cooking and creativity to connection and friendly competition, it was the perfect reminder that recreation is about bringing people together and making memories along the way!

In honor of National Therapeutic Recreation Month, we’re celebrating the power of recreation to support well-being, connection, and community. At RTI, it’s more than just activities. It’s purpose, growth, and joy in action.
