You’ve tried everything. The supplements, the sleep studies, the meditation apps. And you’re still staring at the ceiling at 3am wondering what is wrong with you.
Can I tell you something? Nothing is wrong with you.
But something is off, and it’s not your sleep or lack of supplements. It’s likely your cortisol. And your cortisol is a nervous system thing.
Here’s how it’s supposed to work: cortisol rises in the morning to wake you up, then slowly tapers so your body can wind down at night. Simple rhythm. But when your nervous system gets stuck in that fight-or-flight state (which, honestly, so many of us are) that rhythm flips. Cortisol stays high when it should be dropping, and drops when you actually need it.
That’s your 10pm second wind. Your 3am wide awake. Your “I slept 8 hours and feel like garbage” mornings.
Your body isn’t broken. It’s just stuck in a stress response it never got the memo to turn off. And no supplement is going to talk your nervous system down from that.
Real, deep sleep happens in your parasympathetic state. That rest-and-repair mode your body is desperately trying to get to. So the real question isn’t what should I take? It’s why can’t my body actually relax?
That’s exactly what we look at. HRV, sEMG, thermography, and a neurospinal exam. Together they show us where your nervous system is stuck in overdrive and why it can’t power down.
