All surgery has risk. I don’t know the story here but type of surgery, length of surgery, hormones or birth control, genetics. your age, and health factors affect your risk for blood clots. We do a Caprini risk score on all patients and do sequential compression leg massagers to lower risk. Read my blogs to assess your risk and see strategies to lower risk.

Ruptured silicone implant?

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Silicone implants may leak, particularly after 10 years. It is rare to see extracapsular spread, but you need to address.

1. Do an ultrasound (we do in our office with ) or to look for a leak
2. If not leaking it is a simple exchange. If leaking do not stress. We will do capsulectomy with exchange or removal as you wish.
3. Use this as a time to evaluate. Do you want to tweak anything? Size? Lift? Move the implant out of your armpit?
