According to the 2025 Gov Ever's Task Force on Healthcare Workforce, "Wisconsin has an estimated 17,900 licensed physicians and will need an estimated 2,300 additional physicians by 2035." Rural areas of the state already have a significant primary care shortage, and 1,088,000 residents live in federally designated shortage areas.
