🌱 Fresh food and local farms help keep our community healthy!

The Menomonie Farmers Market is a fun way to support local farmers and enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, and other foods. Buying food close to home can help reduce pollution from long-distance shipping and supports our local community. 🍓🥕🌽 You can even start a garden from the seeds in the produce you purchase!

Healthy food and a healthy environment go hand in hand. Stop by the market today and support local.

🌞 It’s a gorgeous day for our first mid‑week market in Wilson Park! 🌞
Swing by from 10am-4pm for fresh produce, local meats & eggs, homemade breads & baked goods, handmade arts & crafts, hot coffee, and all the easygoing Wednesday charm under the pavilion.

Shop your favorite vendors, enjoy the sunshine, and treat yourself with our amazing lunch selection — Egg rolls, Banh Mi, Fried rice, Tacos, Burgers, and more!

We can't wait to see you at the market!

May is Clean Air Month 🌎💨

The Healthy Environment Action Team (HEAT) is sharing this Wisconsin DNR podcast about what 50 years of clean air progress looks like in Wisconsin. Clean air helps keep our lungs and hearts healthy and can lower asthma problems in our communities.

Learn why clean air still matters today by listening below!

Ninety-four percent of Wisconsinites live in an area that meets all federal air quality standards. Fifty short years ago, that wasn’t necessarily the case. The first Earth Day in 1970 paved the way for a couple of landmark environmental initiatives, including the signing of the Clean Air Act....

Help Monitor Karners 🦋

Protecting pollinators and native habitats is an important part of creating a healthier environment for everyone. That is why opportunities like the Wisconsin Karner Volunteer Monitoring Program connect so well with the work of our Health Dunn Right Healthy Environment Action Team (HEAT).

Community volunteers help document sightings of the endangered Karner blue butterfly across Wisconsin to better understand population trends, habitat changes, and conservation needs over time. These efforts support healthier ecosystems, stronger biodiversity, and environmental stewardship in our communities.

Wisconsin’s Karner Blue Butterfly Volunteer Monitoring program is looking for members of the public who can help survey throughout the butterfly's range this summer!

Karner blue butterflies are a federally endangered species, and our state is a critical part of their remaining range. Currently, Wisconsin has the largest remaining population of Karner blue butterflies, with the only other populations occurring in Michigan, Ohio, New Hampshire and New York.

Surveys should take place during the butterfly’s second flight period in July. We’re hosting in-person trainings at select sites this June. Learn more at https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/endangeredresources/karner/volunteer

It’s National Drinking Water Week!

When we think about clean drinking water, most people probably don't think about trees. They should – trees play a vital role in providing cleaner drinking water.

– Trees act as a natural water purifier.

– Leaves and branches intercept rainwater which slows stormwater water flow – less erosion and runoff

– Roots hold soil in place and prevent sediment getting into lakes, streams and rivers.

– Trees take up nutrients like phosphorous and nitrogen which are contaminants in drinking water!

– Forest soil hosts valuable organisms that naturally clean drinking water.

– Forested soils can absorb more stormwater because trees transpire water back into the air.

This National Drinking Water Week, thank trees for all they do to support drinking water quality and quantity!
