Thanks to Phillips Medisize for inviting us to join their Health and Resource Fair last week. Rebecca, Jim & Lizzy were able to represent. We enjoyed meeting many of the wonderful staff and learning more about health and safety resources in our community!

It was a jam-packed few days, so we didn't get many pictures. Hopefully, these suffice.

The topic of su***de is one that touches us all. Although complex, and not going to be solved today, we can take a step to acknowledge it, those who struggle and those who have been directly impacted.

We can show people touched by su***de that we see them and value them.

We can let others know we are safe people to reach out to when struggling.

We can help people find medication management, therapy options, provide rides to appointments etc...

We can sit with them, as they are. We can help shoulder their burden on the dark days and together celebrate the light days.

Now that you've been updated on the faces of the service providers at Beacon, it's imperative that we acknowledge all of the behind the scenes players.

Beacon couldn't function without our incredible virtual assistant. Although physically far away, she supports the clients and providers in critical ways!

We are also grateful for our billing specialist and her team, provided through Breezy Billing in MN.

We are also grateful for the CPA's, bookkeepers, business lawyers, business mentors, and strategists who helped guide, correct, and continue to provide necessary services. Also, contracted tech support, banking, property managers, and more! There are many moving parts behind the scenes, and the counselors couldn't do their jobs without the dependable and skilled support on the business end.

Jim is the last counselor to introduce. Like the Northern Star, there isn't anything new to update! Jim is "semi-retired," which means he now works and volunteers in a variety of places! One of which is holding a small private practice caseload. As soon as word got out that he's practicing again, a waiting list formed. He loves working with children and families. We hear many positive reviews from men of all ages who find his skills impactful. As a bonus, he has a great sense of humor and leaves a room in laughter. We are glad to have him on the team!

Sophie Anderson is the fall 2025 and spring 2026 graduate intern, practicing under Shae Havner. She is an organized and compassionate communicator. She brings an experience working with adolescents and adults. Along with experience supporting people with a range of mental health concerns, she has a particular interest in working with people with disabilities. She begins her on-boarding process next week and is ready to build a caseload. Contact us to save a spot in her schedule!

Today is day 2/2 of Beacon updates. The spotlight will be on our clinical social workers. We will kick it off with a summary of Shae and her practice.

Shae Havner uses her clinical skills in a variety of places throughout the greater Chippewa Valley, one of those is through a private clinical practice at Beacon! Her waiting list has always been extensive, and to better serve the community and the field, she will be bringing on a graduate intern; Sophie Anderson. Sophie will shadow Shae directly and manage a small caseload of her own, under the guidance of Shae. Stay tuned to see her fall intern showcased!

Rebecca Hustad first started Beacon, in 2016, out of a conviction to do her part in bringing more mental health services to the community. Being born and raised here, this community is truly near and dear to her heart. As the demand for professional counselors grew, she looked for a way to bring more professional counselors to Dunn County while also creating a business structure that allowed her to prioritize the needs of her family as well. From this, Beacon shifted from her private practice to a group practice, in 2020.

This means, all of the counselors have their own private practices managed by the company, Beacon MHR. This allows the counselors to have the freedom to be patient centered vs. policy centered and doesn't have the required oversight of an employee structured clinic. She has been learning, what is necessary, to manage the business but is able to focus on her passion of direct counseling.

Rebecca has been a clinical supervisor since 2010 and has recently decided to focus more on those opportunities, to pour into (and learn from!!) Graduate interns. The passion of those entering the field is contagious and brings a wonderful balance to a practice with more established clinicians.
