Check out the fun volunteer opportunities at The Neighbors for October!

Friday, October 10th - 1:30 - 3:30 pm: Join us for Oktoberfest music with Steve Hart! Volunteers will help bring residents to our Central building for music, snacks, and refreshments. After the music is done, volunteers will help residents return to their households.

Friday, October 17th - 1:30 - 3:30 pm: Join us for happy hour music with Tom Burt! Volunteers will help bring residents to our Central building for music, snacks, and refreshments. After the music is done, volunteers will help residents return to their households.

Friday, October 31st - 4:30 - 7:00 pm: Volunteers will be assigned to a household to help residents hand out candy during trick or treating. If you would like to help out in a certain household, please let us know!

Fun fact: There are over 7,500 varieties of apples grown worldwide! 🍎 We got to sample some delicious donuts and cider at Ferguson's Orchards - Eau Claire this week while checking out their orchard. We learned that the Fergusons grow apples on approximately 400,000 apple trees in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Wow!

We had the great pleasure of saying congratulations and thank you to one of our outstanding staff members this week! Suzi retired from The Neighbors on Wednesday after 27 years of service! 👏

Over Suzi’s tenure at The Neighbors and The Dunn County Health Care Center she has served our residents in many roles including working in the kitchen, housekeeping, CNA, restorative CNA and household coordinator!

Suzi will be greatly missed by her residents and her coworkers! We wish her all the best in the next chapter of life! 🎉

We've had quite a busy few weeks 🙌😱 To recap:
🇺🇸 One of our veterans received a Quilt of Valor from our Dunn County Veterans Service Office. Congratulations Ed & thank you for your service in the Coast Guard!
🎣 Our East and Central buildings were gone fishin' at Jeremiah's Bullfrog Fish Farm- Eat My Fish!
🎷 Sue Orfield and Randy Sinz put on an incredible afternoon of music in our West building. We appreciate them sharing their talents with us!

Be right back: We're enjoying the outdoors! ☀️ In between the heat waves, residents have had some gorgeous days to be outside. Tram rides, flower arranging 🌻 (thanks to a generous donation from The McDonald Flower Barn), and fishing at Jeremiah's Bullfrog Fish Farm- Eat My Fish 🎣

We would also like to thank the University of Wisconsin-Stout international students for stopping in to play FAIRS bingo when it was too hot to attend the fair Thursday afternoon. We had so much fun meeting you all!

We are in search of volunteers to help out at the Dunn County Fair! 🐄 Volunteers will help residents to enjoy time looking at the animals and exhibits throughout the fairgrounds. We hope to have a 1:1 resident to volunteer/staff ratio.
🎠July 24th: East Building - 10:00 - 11:30 am
🎡July 24th: Central Building - 2:00 - 3:30 pm
🎠July 25th: West Building - 10:00 - 11:30 am

Who says you can't celebrate the Fourth of July all week?! 🎆 Residents got into the summer spirit by taking a trip out to Govin's Farm for another round of strawberries on Tuesday and followed it up with a patriotic paint & sip today 🤩

Thank you to Julie & John Govin's Farm for brightening up a rainy afternoon with the perfect treat! Sad that the rain kept us from visiting, but thankful that we could still enjoy some delicious strawberries with our afternoon activities! 🍓🍓🍓
