Let’s Get Real!! Watch out for hidden sugar!
Sugar is highly addictive and we wonder why being diabetic is prevlant in the US. Did you know that 45% of those age 45 to 64 years old are pre-diabetic and 50% for those 65 and older. Furthermore becoming diabetic increases with age. In 2023 the CDC states that over 40 million people were diagnosed/undiagnosed. What is scary is that many people that are undiagnosed can cause serious harm to their bodies.
So let me break this down for you with sugar hidden in your food.
1 TBSP = 12 grams
Spagetti Sauce
Prego - 10 grams of sugar per serving. Eeeck! Thats a lot of sugar, the bad kind!
Ragu - 8 grams of sugar per serving.
Rao’s - 3 grams of sugar per serving.
Yogurt
Strawberry flavored Yoplait has 19 grams of sugar per 6 oz container!
Light Strawberry Yoplait - 7 grams of sugar Too Good yogurt - 3 gram of sugar.
Also do not group fruits into this category!! Fruits are not the enemy. White, brown and all those substitutes sugars are the enemy.
Did you know that the American Heart Association recommends women eat no more than 25 grams of sugar per day and men no more than 36 grams of sugar. We all know that most store purchased items have way more sugar, salt, additives, and preservatives that are not healthy for our bodies!
Remember five or less ingredients is best and go for the single ingredient!
