I’m going to preface this with — I never held having children as something I wanted in my future, ever & I am extremely pro choice.
I was forced to changed my birth control (I loved & took for 8 years) after having a blood clot, I chose an IUD. After 2 years of my body being in total distress from the IUD I forcefully had to push for my doctors to remove it & it was after finally saying “if you don’t remove it, I will” they agreed. That was August of last year.
In November I started seeing a holistic doctor who put me on supplements to help minimize my PMDD — knowing I was not on any sort of BC & that I was sexually active.
In December the condom broke & I took Plan B & I still ended up pregnant. Why?
1. The doctor didn’t tell me that the same hormones & supplements that I needed to regulate my PMDD were also going to make me extremely fertile. The first time I saw my OB for my ultra sound she told me I was her 6th patient this year who started taking those & boom — pregnant. I was pregnant within 1 cycle of starting those supplements.
2. If you are over 155 lbs (which I have been my whole life) you need to take TWO Plan B’s not, one.
Not once did a doctor tell me these facts, not once was I weighed & told that I needed a higher dosage for Plan B — even when Plan B had been talked about in the doctors office over the years.
I also want to add something that I did not know — your pregnancy when counting weeks starts from the first day of your last period.
I.E. if your last period started on June 1st & your conception date (when you most likely ovulated) was June 15th & you don’t realize you are late for your period until July 6th — you’re already 5 weeks along.
Why am I telling you this? Because a couple months ago I had a choice — a choice I HEAVILY discussed with my boyfriend, my family, & my therapist.
By the time I got into the doctors I was already 6.2 weeks along. If that was today, living in Ohio, I would have already lost my right to any choice.
There is so much more I can & will be talking about on this subject. I’m doing this for you, me, my daughter & yours.
… anyways happy independence weekend 😖🖕🏻
