PLAY-BASED THERAPY - “Are they just playing?” 👀
And the answer is… yes.
But also SO much more than that.

What you may see:
🧸 Playing with toys
📚 Reading books
🫧 Blowing bubbles
🚂 Taking turns

But this is actually an evidence-based model of therapy. Underneath the play, we’re working on:
✔ Language development
✔ Attention + engagement
✔ Social interaction
✔ Following directions
✔ Expanding vocabulary
✔ Functional communication

Kids learn best through connection, movement, play, and meaningful interactions. Not sitting at a table drilling flashcards for 30 minutes.

Play is powerful, and for us, it has a purpose.

💡 Quick tip for home:
You do NOT need fancy activities to build language. Some of the BEST learning happens during everyday play and routines.

☀️ OT SUMMER SESSIONS ARE BACK! ☀️

We’re so excited to bring back OT Summer Sessions for year TWO!

These 1:1, play-based sessions are perfect for helping your child maintain and build skills over the summer.

✨ What’s new this year?
We are now able to accept insurance (with self-pay options still available)!

🗓 Details:
• Starting June 2026
• Individual sessions only (no groups)
• Limited spots available

⚠️ Please note:
These sessions are for children already receiving OT services (must provide reports such as IEP). We are not able to complete initial evaluations for summer sessions.

📩 Spots will fill quickly and are first come, first serve (priority given to current & past clients), so be sure to reach out soon!

May is Better Speech & Hearing Month!

If you’ve ever wondered…
“Is this normal?” when it comes to your child’s speech or language, you’re not alone.

Communication is so much more than just talking.

It starts with understanding, connection, play, and everyday interactions.

Laundry day! Some of the BEST language moments happen during everyday routines. Let's look at some ways you could work on language skills while making it fun:

Have your child help you delivery laundry to each room and instead of just doing the task, model simple phrases:

“In!”
“Push it!”
“Go go go!”
“Heavy!”
“Where does it go?”

Keep it playful and exaggerated.

Tips:
For younger toddlers, focus on single words.
For older toddlers, use 2–3 word phrases.
Give simple directions (“Put the socks in Daddy’s room.”)
For preschoolers, add problem-solving (“Uh oh! It’s stuck!”)

You don't need fancy toys. You just need interaction. Save this post for your next laundry day 💛

See the slides below for 3 signs your 1 year old might benefit from speech therapy -

You are not “crazy” for wondering.
You are not overthinking.
And early support is never a bad idea.

By 12 months, babies are learning that communication is powerful. If gestures, name response, or sound play are limited, it doesn’t mean something is wrong, but it may mean your child could benefit from extra support.

The earlier we intervene, the easier it is to build strong communication foundations.
