📣🎂 What an incredible milestone to celebrate!🎂📣

We had the honor of celebrating a very special 101st birthday, a life so beautifully lived and a legacy that inspires us all.

When asked her secret to longevity, Harriett humbly didn’t have an answer at first but as the party progressed it became evident she indeed had amazing words of wisdom and shared: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” 💚

We can’t help but be moved by her wisdom. ❤️Research shows that stress management, resilience, and positive outlooks are directly tied to both quality of life and longevity in older adults (American Psychological Association, 2023). Harriett’s advice is a living example of what the data confirms, our mindset matters.

At Home Instead, we believe celebrating milestones like this is not just about age, but about honoring the stories, resilience, and wisdom that enrich our communities. Harriett reminds us all to find joy in the everyday and to let go of what doesn’t serve us.

Please join us in wishing this remarkable woman a very happy 101st birthday! 🎂✨ Here is to many more years of laughter, love, and not sweating the small stuff. 🌸

✨ Celebrating Assisted Living Week with a sweet surprise! ✨☕️🫖🍪

Today, our Senior Care Advisor, Nicole Crawford, was proud to help sponsor “Taste of the World”, bringing a yummy treat for residents and staff in honor of National Assisted Living Week. Events like these are not just fun, they are good for wellbeing. Research shows that:

✅ Social activities help older adults reduce loneliness and improve mental health.

✅ Mealtimes and shared treats can be powerful moments of connection that boost quality of life in care communities.

We’re honored to celebrate the incredible residents and devoted staff who make every day an adventure. 💚

If you have a loved one who could benefit from companionship, personal care, or a little extra support at home, we’re here to help. 💚

✨ Who says wellness can’t be fun? 🎡🍭

Home Instead’s Nicole Crawford, brought the carnival spirit to Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation this week with a cotton candy machine and plenty of laughter to go around! 💚

It may look like just sugar and smiles, but research shows these moments matter:
➡️ Studies link positive social activities with reduced loneliness and improved emotional well-being in older adults (National Institute on Aging, 2023).
➡️ Even simple shared experiences like music, food, and play can boost mood, reduce stress, and support cognitive health (American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, 2021).
➡️ Fun group events encourage connection with peers and staff, which the CDC recognizes as protective for both mental and physical health in seniors.

At Home Instead, we believe quality care isn’t only about safety and assistance, it is about creating moments of joy, belonging, and connection. 💖

If you know someone who could use a little more support, whether it’s companionship, personal care, or help around the home, we would love to connect. Because sometimes, the best medicine really is a cloud of blue sugar and a whole lot of smiles.

This is why we walk. 💜

When Michelle’s dad, Don, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 69, her family’s world changed forever. Over 10 years, she watched him go from living at home with caregivers to assisted living, and eventually to an Alzheimer’s unit before he passed away at age 79.

Earlier this year, dementia touched her family again when Michelle’s mom, Sandy, had a stroke and heart attack that rapidly advanced her dementia. Now in memory care, Michelle visits Sandy every evening. Despite these challenges, she finds gratitude: “Even though my mom has changed, I’m still creating memories with her.”

For Michelle, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is about honoring her parents and connecting with others. Each year, she joins her Home Instead team and others in the senior care community to walk not in sadness, but in hope for a cure.

It’s because of passionate people like Michelle that Home Instead, a Walk to End Alzheimer’s Gold National Team, has raised nearly $5.5 million over the past 17 years — including $280,000 just last year — to advance critical Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Together with the , we’re fighting for a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Let’s make 2025 our most impactful year yet. 💪

We walk for our clients. We walk for our families.💜
And this year, we walk with one goal: to help end Alzheimer’s.

At Home Instead, we’ve seen the impact of Alzheimer’s and other dementias firsthand in the homes we visit, in the people we love, and in the lives of those we serve every day. That’s why we’re proud to be a National Team in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Together, our network has raised nearly $5.5 million over the past 17 years—and more than $280,000 just last year. 🎉 Let’s make 2025 our biggest impact yet.

It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵

And while we all might be cranking up the AC, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe and comfortable this season.

Here’s a few summer tips for older loved ones:

💧 Keep drinks flowing — Hydration is key. Try lemon water, herbal iced tea, or fruit-infused water for a refreshing twist.

🌿 Stick to shade — Morning and evening are best for fresh air. Think porch chats, garden strolls, or birdwatching under a tree.

🍓 Eat the rainbow — Seasonal foods like berries, melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes are easy, colorful, and packed with nutrients.

🎶 Play their favorite music — It can lift spirits, stir memories, and create connection in an instant.

👂 Be present — Whether it’s a phone call, a visit, or simply sitting nearby, your time means more than you know.

It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵

And while we’re all reaching for iced drinks and fans, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe in the summer heat.

Here’s your caregiver-approved summer safety toolkit for aging loved ones:

💧 Hydrate with variety – Water is essential, but try chilled fruit, herbal iced tea, smoothies, or even popsicles to keep it fun and refreshing.

👒 Dress smart – Light, breathable clothing and wide-brimmed hats help regulate temperature and protect sensitive skin.

🌬️ Cool it down – If there’s no AC, use fans, cold washcloths, or even a bowl of cool water for hands and wrists to provide quick relief.

🌿 Time outdoor activities wisely – Early mornings or evenings are safest. A short stroll, porch chat, or birdwatching can bring joy without overheating.

👂 Connect with care – Sometimes, just being present — listening, sharing a memory, or sitting together — is the best form of comfort.

Let’s keep our older adults safe, seen, and supported this summer.
