A week is all it took for this dad to give up his 4+ cups of coffee a day he had been drinking for decades!

The results are astounding! Despite going through several major life transitions (translation- extra stress potential!!) He is juicing and drinking green tea with some adaptogenic herbs and feels great!!

I know what a big deal it is to free yourself from a daily habit that’s negatively impacting life. I was that person at one time too- way over caffeinated and completely stressed out. I was too -busy- and relied on my coffee fix in the morning to pull myself through the day.

It was wrecking my health inside and outside and my stress load felt enormous most days.
Until I realized I needed to -busy- myself with some new health habits 🥰

For every action there is a reaction. This universal truth is applicable for every choice point in life, big and small. What may seem like innocuous everyday decisions, accumulate and manifest in our bodies in ways and time spans that we don’t always connect.
Health isn’t about age or “being lucky” it requires daily action and accountability!

It’s important to ask a lot of questions, read to learn and not just confirm your beliefs, and be willing to invest in your health. That said, I feel blessed to live in a place where we have access to health clinics, care-givers and hospitals to stitch us back together or operate to address the injuries we cannot on our own. However, I know that true bodily autonomy for myself and my children begins with my daily choices.

One of the sneakiest ways that toxins make their way into our bodies is through what we put on them. Things that go on our skin and in our airways make their way into our bloodstream or lymph, bypassing the filtering function of our liver.

The body’s toxic load adds up quickly when compounded by the harmful chemicals in foods, water and things we have lesser control over, like traffic fumes and volatile organic compounds (VOCS) found in everything from flooring and furniture to car seats and paint. It means that being informed on what we can control, becomes more essential for ourselves and our children!

One of the particular risks with body care and other artificially fragranced products are phthalates. These toxic chemicals are endocrine disruptors. They create a buildup of excess hormones in the body and are directly linked to issues of hormone deregulation including reproductive cancers, PMS, acne, and more.

PFAS, a class of “forever chemicals” are found in many cosmetics and hygiene products. According to studies, an upward of 47% of cosmetics tested indicated the presence of these persistent toxins, especially in water-resistant mascaras and lipsticks. Things like tampons and even toilet paper can have dangerous levels, especially for women- since these toxins are harder for our bodies to excrete.

Avoid products with heavy dyes, huge ingredient lists, microplastic beads and neurotoxins like that of fluoridated toothpaste.

Seeking safer and USDA certified organic options is important! Read ingredient labels, and look for products that tell you what they avoid! Experiment with brands that utilize simple and natural ingredients like Castile soap, coconut and other botanical oils, essential oils, organic fibers, natural antioxidants and preservatives like vitamin C and E.

I personally enjoy vegan cosmetics and body care, as this tells me the company’s ethical standards and often can indicate a more environmental conscious approach to their products as well. The origins of our gut health begin at birth! Decisions like vaginal or C-section and breastfed versus formula fed, are factors that lay the foundation for how the microbiome develops. Why does this matter?

Of the trillions of different species of microbes found in/on our body, the intestines alone contain 100 billion! Research shows that much of our health depends on having a robust community of symbiotic bacteria! Gut functions include detoxification, digestion, immunity, vitamin production and mood modulation, as that is where production of important neurotransmitters like serotonin take place.

There’s a reason Hippocrates believed “death sits in the bowels!” If you’ve ever suffered even just from indigestion, you know how an unhappy gut is life disrupting!
The key to build and maintain beneficial gut flora is by feeding them a colorful assortment of fiber rich whole foods. Fruits, vegetables and legumes, grains, seeds and nuts provides their fuel source, known as short-chain fatty acids.

Things that impede a healthy microbiome include fiberless-processed foods, artificial flavors and fillers, stress, and animal products like meat and dairy- as they contain antibiotics, stress hormones and promote inflammation.

A high quality probiotic can help fill in the gaps of an altered gut and provide the strains of bacteria we are lacking in! It’s important to eat for our microbiome BUT I am grateful we live in a world where more and more we have the knowledge of how to better support and supplement our health, naturally and holistically💛

Every journey has a starting place with that first initial goal in sight!
Personally, mine was ensuring I was drinking enough water every single day!
That habit has become foundational for my health, and my children’s as well. So many ailments, including low energy, constipation and headaches can be avoided by drinking enough pure H2O!

Through my personal and professional health studies it became obvious that filtering water is essential to make sure we are not taking in the pollution of everyday life that occurs through many different veins. Whether it is well water or a municipal source, so many toxic chemicals including many known carcinogens can lurk in the water supply.
(Fast hack to learn how your water is doing: go to ewg.org and do a zip code check to see what contaminants are in your area using their clean water database.)

My go to for a home system right now is a counter top model by Santevia. It filters everything from heavy metals, fluoride, and chlorine, to pharmaceuticals and other unknown and harmful runoff chemicals, that can really shift the trajectory of our health story.

It’s valuable to do some research and find a system that works well for you your family and your budget. It’s very helpful to filter your shower water as well so if a home system makes most sense for you, that’s awesome! One helpful tip is looking for systems that will re-mineralize the water. This ensures you’e not stripping the minerals that are beneficial to our bodies and can improve the natural taste of water 🩵

It’s been a minute since my last post! Life has been full with a new baby and new studies for being a Quantum Mind Body Therapist™️
These studies offer me even more invaluable tools to help assist clients in working through the MENTAL and EMOTIONAL blocks that can keep us in self-defeating and unsupportive feedback loops.
Viewing our experiences on a quantum level offers the perspective that any goal involving a healthier body means freeing ourselves from the mental, emotional and often spiritual imbalances that led us to that place to begin with.

It seems miraculous, and really it is!

Did you know your skin renews in 28 days? Or that we have an entirely “new” heart in 30 days?
It takes around 70 days to regenerate our lungs🫁🫀🤯

The caveat?? Your body requires some help from some specific nutrients, and enzymes, proper pH balance and other intentional actions on our end to really be the healing machine we already are!

So many issues will resolve when the body is cleansed and renewed‼️
