This weird little stretch of December always sneaks up on people.
Thanksgiving? Gone.
Christmas? Suddenly this week.
New Year motivation? Still buffering…
The days are short.
The sun disappears at 4:30.
Your calendar is packed.
Your energy is… questionable.
And honestly—you might not even know what day it is anymore. (Is it Tuesday? Saturday? Who knows.)
This is usually when people do one of two things:
• Try to go full discipline mode out of nowhere
• Or quietly tap out until January
Neither one works great.
What does work this time of year?
Lowering the bar just enough to keep moving.
Not grinding.
Not “burn it all down” workouts.
Not punishing yourself because cookies exist.
Just… staying in motion.
✔️ A couple strength sessions each week
✔️ A walk outside (yes, even when it’s cold)
✔️ Eating well most of the time
✔️ Enjoying holiday meals without turning one dinner into a month-long spiral
December doesn’t need a dramatic plan.
It needs a steady one.
Because when you keep a few simple habits alive now, January feels like a continuation—not a restart fueled by guilt and regret.
