A Monday well spent at Island House. Residents sat down with interdisciplinary artist LaMecca Bostwick for a LoCA Artist Talk and got a real look into her world of abstract and impressionist watercolor painting.

Her inspiration, her techniques, and the stories behind her art made for an afternoon of genuine connection and creativity. 🖌️

In honor of National Plant a Flower Day, residents at Island House got their hands in the soil. Daffodils, tulips, violas, and pansies went into colorful pots that are now living on windowsills, with neighbors, and out front where everyone can see them. 🌸

Juliet is back at Island House and she brought the West with her. Residents gathered for her return to the Saturday performance series and her "Home on the Range" set had the whole room tapping along to familiar tunes. 🤠

Childhood classics and the memories that come with them. 🤍

Residents and team members gathered to read favorites like The Cat in the Hat, The Wonky Donkey, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and Rumpelstiltskin out loud together. The laughter and stories shared around that room were enough to put it on the calendar again next month. 📖

Crafting Corner paid tribute to Van Gogh and the results were stunning. Residents recreated his iconic Sunflowers painting and brought their own creativity to every brushstroke. 🌻

We honored Women's History Month with a celebration of Black Women in Jazz & the Arts. Residents learned about the lives and contributions of Hazel Scott, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, and Maya Angelou.

Their impact on jazz, poetry, civil rights, and culture is impossible to overstate. 🎶

The Drama Club brought the house down at our Island Social. Residents and team members took the stage for a performance of The Man Who Came to Dinner and the room was full of laughter from start to finish. 🎭

National Pancake Day was not wasted here. Residents made fluffy buttermilk pancakes from scratch on 2/26, topped with strawberry compote and homemade whipped cream. The kitchen was busy and the plates were clean. 🥞🍓
