That “glass of wine to relax” isn’t actually relaxing your body—it’s sedating your brain, spiking cortisol, disrupting REM sleep, and slowing fat burning for hours.

If you’re finding you need it more often to unwind, it’s worth asking why.

💡 Progesterone is a neurosteroid that acts on the same GABA-A receptor as alcohol—your brain’s natural calming system.
When progesterone drops (hello midlife), your ability to feel calm drops with it.

👉 Translation: it’s not a willpower issue—it may be a hormone signal.

If wine feels like your only off switch… it might be time to evaluate your progesterone, not pour another glass.

POV: mid mental breakdown… then my phone pings

pause crying
handles business like a boss
resume crying

“Open your own business,” they said.
“It’ll be fun,” they said.
“You’ll have freedom,” they said.

Meanwhile… can’t even have a breakdown in peace 😂

Your chronic pain isn’t random… it’s affected by your hormones 🔥

Midlife women—this explains your flares 👇

Chronic pain (nerve pain + fibromyalgia) = brain-driven
And your hormones directly control it

👉 Progesterone = a powerful neurosteroid
Calms the brain + reduces pain signaling

👉 Studies show progesterone helps reduce
nerve pain + central sensitization

👉 Low progesterone (perimenopause) =
more pain, more sensitivity, more flares

‼️ Not in your head
‼️ It’s neurohormonal

✨ Lower inflammation + support progesterone = more stable pain

Follow for real hormone-based solutions 💛

Sarcopenia—the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength—is strongly linked to longevity in women. Research shows that people with sarcopenia have about twice the risk of all-cause mortality compared with those who maintain normal muscle mass. Muscle loss accelerates after menopause, partly due to declining s*x hormones.

👉New data highlighted by the The Menopause Society in 2026 suggests that higher levels of estrogen and testosterone are associated with greater skeletal muscle mass and a lower risk of sarcopenia in women.

✅Bottom line: preserving muscle through adequate protein intake, resistance training, and healthy hormone levels may play an important role in reducing mortality risk in aging women. 💪

POV: The tables have turned… 😅

Me reviewing my parents’ labs the same way they used to review my report cards…
long pause
“…we need to talk.” 🤨📉

The disappointment. The confusion. The silent judgment.
Now I get it 😂

Moral of the story: you can’t hide from your labs forever 👀

What if a “weight-loss drug” was actually a metabolic powerhouse? 👀

👉Medications like Semaglutide, Tirzepatide—and now retatrutide - all part of the GLP‑1 receptor agonists class—do far more than reduce weight.

✅They improve metabolic signaling by:
• increasing insulin sensitivity
• lowering chronic inflammation
• reducing visceral adiposity
• decreasing estrogen production from fat tissue

✅These mechanisms directly influence risk pathways involved in Breast Cancer, and emerging data suggests GLP-1 therapy may reduce breast cancer risk.

Metabolic health isn’t just about weight.
It’s about changing disease risk at the cellular level. 🧬

Your body has a way of sending signals when hormones start shifting. The challenge is that many women are told these symptoms are “normal,” stress, or just part of getting older — when in reality, they can often be linked to hormone imbalance.

Here are 5 major signs your hormones may need attention:

• Sleep suddenly goes off the rails
If you were sleeping fine and now struggle with falling asleep, staying asleep, or wake up between 2–4 AM, fluctuating estrogen, progesterone, or cortisol patterns may be playing a role.

• New anxiety or mood changes that don’t feel like you
Many women experience new irritability, anxiety, or emotional swings during hormone shifts such as perimenopause. This can happen even if you’ve never struggled with mood issues before.

• Sudden weight gain or body composition changes
If your exercise and diet haven’t changed but your body is storing more fat (especially around the midsection), hormones like insulin, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid function may need evaluation.

• Brain fog and low stress tolerance
Difficulty concentrating, forgetting words, feeling mentally exhausted, or being easily overwhelmed can often be tied to hormone shifts affecting neurotransmitters and cortisol balance.

• Changes in your cycle
Heavier periods, lighter periods, shorter cycles, longer cycles, spotting between cycles, or skipped periods can all be signs that hormone patterns are changing.

The good news is you don’t have to guess what’s going on. Hormone testing and personalized treatment plans can help identify the root cause and restore balance so you can feel like yourself again.

At Treasure Valley Pain & Hormones, we evaluate the full picture — hormones, metabolism, thyroid health, inflammation, and lifestyle factors — to create a personalized treatment plan for each patient.

We are insurance-based and contracted with most major plans, helping make care accessible and affordable.

When your receptionist goes home early and you have to cover the front desk… ☕️😂

Turns out running the front desk is a LOT harder than it looks.

This reel is just a funny reminder that the real superheroes in our clinic are the people you see the moment you walk through the door. From answering a million phone calls, checking patients in, handling insurance questions, scheduling, and somehow keeping the whole day running smoothly — our front desk team does it all.

We appreciate our staff more than they know. They keep the clinic organized, the patients happy, and the providers from completely falling apart when we try to do their job for five minutes. 😅

Thank you to our amazing team at Treasure Valley Pain & Hormones. We couldn’t do this without you! 🤍

🔥 Are your heart palpitations more than “just stress”?
Perimenopause can trigger noticeable heart rhythm changes — and it’s real, not just in your head.

📊 According to the 2023 SWAN study from The Menopause Society, many women in midlife experience increased palpitations and cardiovascular symptoms as estrogen levels fluctuate. These changes are linked to autonomic nervous system shifts — not anxiety alone. (SWAN = Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation)

✨ Key takeaway: Perimenopause-related palpitations are common and biologically grounded, especially during midlife hormone transitions.

When they tell you the only option for heavy periods, ovarian cysts, or short cycles is birth control… 👀

Yeah… we know that’s not the whole story.

Birth control can help manage symptoms, but many times it doesn’t address the root cause of what’s happening in your body. Advocate for yourself ask for oral micronized progesterone 100 to 200 mg one day 14th through 28 of your cycle instead of birth control, which carries along with it a significantly higher risks and side effects, including potential effect on future fertility.

Heavy periods.Painful cycles.Ovarian cysts.Short cycles.PMS that takes over your life.

These symptoms are often connected to things like:✨ Low progesterone✨ Estrogen imbalance✨ Insulin resistance✨ Thyroid dysfunction✨ Chronic stress and high cortisol✨ Inflammation or nutrient deficiencies

Your body is communicating, not malfunctioning.

At Treasure Valley Pain Center, we take a functional and integrative approach to women’s health — looking at hormones, metabolism, stress, and overall physiology to help you find real answers.

You deserve more than “this is just part of being a woman.”
