“This is life changing.” We hear this day after day in every patient we help through their PTSD struggle.

The injection is safe, takes 10 minutes under ultrasound and the effects change the trajectory of families. PTSD is now called PTSI (post traumatic stress INJURY) because it can be treated and no longer a life-sentence of suffering.

👉The injection around the nerve bundle in your neck is like resetting a computer stuck in a stress state, allowing it to go back to operating the way God designed.
1. The mind quiets
2. Sleep returns
3. Logic not fear controls and allows for processing of trauma
4. Relationships are restored
5. Dysautonomias related the nervous system dysfunction improve!

You are not broken, and the stellate ganglion block resets the fight or flight state of PTSD. We have seen amazing results in first responders and survivors of various trauma both from childhood and adult experiences.

⭐️Our apptoach addresses the trauma then helps patients identify changes to lifestyle or lab work to balance the nervous system.

What if there was a way to go back in time—before the trauma?

For many of our patients with PTSD, this has been the closest thing to it.

The stellate ganglion block (SGB) is one of the most effective treatments we offer for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. By calming the overactive fight-or-flight response, SGB helps the nervous system reset out of survival mode.

✨ Our patients commonly report 50–90% improvement in symptoms like hypervigilance, anxiety, sleep disturbance, panic, and emotional reactivity—often within days.

This isn’t about “talking through” trauma.
It’s about giving your nervous system relief so healing can finally happen.

If your body is still living like the trauma is happening right now, this may be the missing piece.

Not all estrogen is created equal ✨

From a hormone specialist’s perspective, the safest and most physiologic form of estrogen for most women is transdermal estrogen—either a patch or a gel—not a pill.

Why?
Oral estrogen has to pass through the liver first, where it’s converted into more inflammatory metabolites. Transdermal estrogen bypasses this process, leading to more stable hormone levels and a lower metabolic burden.

That said—if a pill is the only option, we can absolutely still do this safely. It just requires a few extra steps to support proper liver detoxification. Tools like glutathione can make a big difference when oral estrogen is necessary.

Hormone therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s about choosing the right form, for the right body, with the right support 💛

Why Thyroid Medications Can Feel Less Effective in Perimenopause & Menopause

👉As estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone start to fluctuate, the body’s response to thyroid hormone can shift. Thyroid hormone helps sensitize receptors for these hormones, so when levels change, tissues may not “hear” thyroid signals as well—even if your dose is the same.

👉Hormone swings can also alter thyroid-binding proteins and metabolic rate, leading to symptoms that feel like low thyroid despite stable labs. It’s not that your medication stopped working; the internal environment changed.

🌟Ask your provider to check ALL the thyroid labs, including TSH, free t4, free t3 and reverse t3 to know what your thyroid is REALLY doing.

Before you adjust your hormones… check your thyroid first.
Your thyroid is the metabolic driver and the sensitization center for every other hormone in your body.
If the thyroid is even slightly underperforming, HRT can feel “off,” inconsistent, or less effective — no matter how perfect your estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone doses are.

When we evaluate hormone health at Treasure Valley Pain & Hormones, we always start with the thyroid because:

✨ It regulates metabolic rate
✨ It controls how sensitive your cells are to other hormones
✨ It impacts mood, energy, weight, sleep, and cycle regulation
✨ It determines how well your body responds to HRT treatment

To get a true picture of thyroid function, you need MORE than just a TSH.
Here are the labs to ask for:

🧪 TSH
🧪 Free T4
🧪 Free T3
🧪 Total T3
🧪 Reverse T3
🧪 SHBG (shows how free + available your hormones really are)

If you’re struggling with fatigue, stubborn weight, anxiety, hair loss, or HRT that “isn’t kicking in”… your thyroid may be the missing piece. 🧩

Most clinics avoid estrogen in perimenopause… but that fear is outdated and women are paying the price for it.

For decades, the message has been:
“Progesterone only.”
“Don’t touch estrogen until menopause.”
“It’s risky.”
“It’s not needed.”

But here’s what we see every day in real patients:
🚫 Progesterone alone isn’t enough for many women
🚫 Symptoms continue or get worse
🚫 Quality of life plummets for YEARS
🚫 Women get dismissed instead of treated

Meanwhile—when estrogen is used correctly, safely, and physiologically during perimenopause?
It can be absolutely life-changing.

We’re talking about real improvements in:
✨ Sleep
✨ Mood + anxiety
✨ Cognitive function
✨ Energy
✨ Brain fog
✨ Cyclical migraines
✨ Hot flashes + night sweats
✨ PMS/PMDD symptoms
✨ Metabolism + overall stability

Here’s the truth:
Estrogen is not the enemy. Incorrect dosing is.
When estrogen is paired with the right type of progesterone, dosed appropriately, and monitored by a provider who understands the physiology of cycling women — it is safe, effective, and dramatically improves quality of life.

At Treasure Valley Pain & Hormones, we don’t follow outdated hormone fear.
We follow physiology, evidence, and patient outcomes.
And when a woman is suffering in perimenopause, we support both progesterone and estrogen when it’s appropriate — because women deserve REAL relief, not symptom-chasing.

If you’ve been told to “wait until menopause,” it might be time for a second opinion.
Your symptoms matter.
Your quality of life matters.
And there are options.

🌙 Why You Keep Waking Up at 3 A.M. (And Yes… It’s Hormonal)

Ever notice you’re wide awake between 2–4 a.m., heart a little jumpy, mind suddenly alert… even though you’re exhausted?

That pattern is classic during perimenopause and menopause—and it’s not random. It’s physiology.

Here’s what’s happening:

🔬 1. Estrogen Declines → Less Melatonin Support

Estrogen helps your brain make and regulate melatonin.
As estrogen drops, your melatonin rhythm becomes lighter… so you wake more easily overnight when cortisol naturally rises.

🔬 2. Low Progesterone = Less GABA = More Night Anxiety

Progesterone is your calming, anti-anxiety hormone.
When it declines, your brain loses its “natural chill pill,” making those 3 a.m. wakeups feel wired, restless, or anxious.

🔬 3. Cortisol Spikes Fill the Gap

With less estrogen/progesterone stabilizing your nervous system, your body relies more heavily on cortisol.
That can cause an early-morning cortisol surge—waking you up suddenly.

🔬 4. Thermoregulation Goes Off

Declining estrogen disrupts your hypothalamus (your thermostat), making you feel warm at night before a wakeup… even without full hot flashes.

🔬 5. Blood Sugar Swings Become More Likely

Hormone shifts change glucose stability.
A dip overnight = a cortisol bump = hello, 3 a.m. wakeup.

You’re not imagining it.
You’re not “just anxious.”
Your body is signaling that your hormones need support.

We replace insulin for diabetes.
We replace thyroid when it’s low.
So why does the system go silent when women’s hormones plummet?

This is the part no one says out loud 👇
For decades, women have been told their symptoms are “normal,” “just aging,” or “something to push through.”

Meanwhile they’re struggling with:
🔥 Hot flashes
💤 Terrible sleep
💥 Anxiety + mood swings
🧠 Brain fog
⚡ Slowed metabolism
💔 Low libido + exhaustion
🦴 Higher long-term risk for bone loss, heart disease, and cognitive decline

And instead of true endocrine support?
They’re handed antidepressants, sleep meds, or told to “wait it out.”

Here’s the truth ⤵️
If we’re only chasing symptoms, we’re not treating the root cause.
HRT isn’t optional—it’s essential for quality of life, brain health, metabolism, longevity, and emotional stability.

Women deserve the same level of hormone care we give every other endocrine disorder.

At Treasure Valley Pain & Hormones, we treat the actual imbalance, optimize labs, and give women the care they’ve been missing for years.

You don’t have to feel this way.
And you don’t have to be dismissed.
