Spine & Physical Medicine Returning to life by restoring function. Dr. James Bates has been in practice as a physiatrist in Boise for over twenty years.

He has completed specialized training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is board certified. As a practitioner of PM&R he focuses on the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation states that the role of a physiatrist is, “to treat any disability resulting from disease or injury, from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. The focus is on the development of a comprehensive program for putting the pieces of a person's life back together after injury or disease – without surgery.”
