I didn’t leave nursing because I hated medicine.

I left because I wanted to see women actually get better.

Being a nurse didn’t protect me from being unheard.

It taught me how often women are told to ignore their intuition and use medications to shut down what our body is trying to tell us.

Symptoms are literally our body waving the white flag saying,”give me attention please!”

I quickly learned my healing didn’t need to come from doing more, it needed me to understand my body.

Most hormone imbalances don’t start with hormones.

They start with blood sugar.

Every time you eat something that doesn’t support your blood sugar, your body has to manually balance that out.

The problem though: When blood sugar swings, cortisol rises. EVERY TIME.

And not just momentarily, but for roughly TEN HOURS. Ten hours of inflammation based off of one skipped meal or one high carb/sugar intake with no support.

The more cortisol we demand, the less progesterone that can be produced.

And suddenly you’re tired, inflamed, anxious, and confused why nothing is working.

Hormones don’t work in isolation.

We think it is our hormones because we notice immediately when they are not balanced.

But the reality is they respond to how safe your body feels.

I’ll be the one that tells you skipping meals, running on fumes, not enough protein, not drinking enough water, poor gut health all lead to your body feeling unsafe.

And one of the fastest ways to create safety and fe better?

Stabilize blood sugar.

This is why “eating healthy” isn’t always enough. But timing, balance, and consistency matter.

You can eat as clean as you want, but until you learn how to eat, your body can’t regulate fully.

Instead, you get a false sense it’s working (until it’s not).

If I could go back, I would’ve started here.

Before I spent hundreds on supplements.
Before I tried every fad diet in the book.

You can’t out-supplement unstable blood sugar.

Which I think a lot of women are trying to do. We begin fixing symptoms instead of the root cause.

Which will lead to a lot of wasted money and time, meanwhile, the problem continues to get worse.

I see women chasing hormones, detoxes, protocols… while their body is still stressed.

Healing doesn’t start with doing MORE. You don’t need the next best thing. Or the trending health hacks.

You need one thing.

It starts with stabilizing what’s foundational.

Gut health 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 hormone balance

If you have poor digestion, your body cannot adequately excrete estrogen or other toxins.

Hence, estrogen dominance and inflammation overload.

These consistent habits have helped me so much though and I regularly suggest them to my own clients 🫶🏽

1. High protein and fiber diet
2. Lemon/salt water first thing in AM
3. Collagen in your coffee
4. Fermented foods
5. Pre/Probiotic supplement
6. Movement post-meals

If I could tell you one thing that would fix your hormones, it would be this ☝🏽

Our adrenal function has a huge impact on our hormones/inflammation/overall health. The adrenals main job is to regulate cortisol and blood sugar levels.

So, if you can balance your blood sugar, you change your hormones.

Here are my top tips to balance your blood sugar so you can eat foods like this with minimal impact!

1. Eat more protein than you eat carbs (but don’t cut carbs completely)
2. Eat regularly, every 3-4 hours. DO NOT SKIP MEALS
3. Eat your protein first at every meal
4. If you choose to have something you know will spike your BG, eat a few bites of protein first
5. Stay well hydrated so your blood is not concentrated with sugar

None of these even suggest giving up your favorite foods. It’s more about how you decide to eat them! Support your body first so you can live your life and not feel restricted 🤟🏽
