One week from today, we’ll be packing up and heading out on vacation. Just saying that out loud makes me want to take a deeper breath. (no classes the first 2 weeks of Sept.)

This week has been a mix of tying up loose ends, making lists, and trying not to overthink the packing. But underneath all that, there’s this steady exhale just knowing that soon we’ll be on the road, breathing mountain air, and enjoying slower days.

Maybe you’re not heading out on vacation next week, but I bet there’s something on your horizon that you’re looking forward to.

What’s that thing for you? Share it in the comments!!! let’s celebrate the exhale together.
Here’s to one week to go.

The truth is...

I hear all the excuses—“I’m not flexible enough,” “I’m not strong,” “I’m too old”, (fill in your own blank).

But here’s the truth: you don’t need to meet an ideal to start. Growth comes from consistency, not perfection.

Every small step you take—showing up for yourself, moving your body, practicing awareness, all adds up over time. Start where you are today and keep going, bit by bit, toward where you want to be.

There’s a class to meet your needs:
🧘‍♀️ Thursday 6 PM – Mat Yoga
🪑 Friday – Chair Yoga

Consistency beats perfection every time. Come move with us—you’ve got this!

Taking a Closer Look

This 1-2 minute exercise is a little pause in your day to reset your nervous system and connect to yourself. Try it every day this week and see what new details you discover!

Pick an object, your coffee mug, etc.

Hold it in your hands (or place it in front of you).
Take a deep breath in, feeling the weight of your body in your chair or feet on the floor. Exhale slowly.

Notice the details:
What does it feel like—smooth, rough, warm, cold?
What colors, shapes, or patterns can you see?
Are there tiny imperfections or textures you’ve never noticed before? Take in colors & shadows. Notice the tiniest details.

Add gentle movement to your body: Slowly swaying side to side.
Breathe with your observation: Inhale as you explore one part, exhale as you notice another.

-Reflection prompt: How does focusing on this small object change your awareness of your body and surroundings?

Think you’re getting enough protein?

Most women aren’t — and it’s one of the biggest reasons for energy crashes, constant snacking, and stalled progress.

I made a free guide, “What 30g of Protein Looks Like,” so you can see exactly how much protein you really need and how to get it without overcomplicating your meals.

Most mornings, I wake up early just to sit alone with my coffee. Instead of rushing straight into the day, I give myself a few extra minute to just be—no phone, no list, no distractions. Just silence and the warmth of the mug in my hand.

Those few extra minutes are a reminder that we spend so much of life in go mode, but there’s magic in the pause between things.

Today’s practice:
Before you jump into the next task, pause for 60 seconds.
Notice your breath, your body, and one thing around you you’d normally overlook.

It’s not about “emptying your mind.” It’s about showing up for the moment you’re already in.

What’s one small pause you can take today? Share it below—your idea might be just the reminder someone else needs!

Friday Note- I’ve been thinking a lot about how often we look for the next big thing when it comes to feeling better in our bodies or minds—some new hack, supplement, or superfood. But lately, I keep coming back to how powerful the simple things are.

Things like:

Getting outside for a walk
Prioritizing sleep
Eating enough protein and veggies
Letting sunshine hit your skin
Laughing with someone you love
Taking a breath and actually feeling it

None of this is flashy. You won’t see it going viral. But done consistently over time? These are the things that change us. They help us feel grounded, more alive, more ourselves.

This is your gentle nudge going into the weekend: you don’t have to do everything. Just keep showing up for the simple things. They matter more than we give them credit for.

With you,
Courtney 🤍

Hello! I’m Courtney,

A local yogi, outdoor enthusiast, and owner of Wild Soul Yoga. It is my passion to bring yoga and wellness to our community. I have practice yoga since 2001, and completed my RYT® 200 Yoga Teacher Training in traditional Hatha style yoga at the Asheville Yoga Center.

I believe in bringing mindfulness to the mat, through the practices of meditation, pranayama (breath work) and asana (poses). My classes focus on meaningful movements that follow the flow of breath, with the intention of bring my students to a deeper understanding of the mind + body + spirit connection.

When not on my mat, I can be found crafting candles, hiking a trail with my husband Patrick, enjoying a craft beer, or hanging out with my dogs.

Yoga is my passion, and I believe it is so much more than an exercise. I’d love to share it with you!
