Shin splints… 👎🏾

06/09/2025

It was about time to start working out again. I have been using recovering from a couple surgeries as my excuse to not consistently be back in it. It was kind of an excuse and kind of a true story. Either way, can't use it anymore for the time being and I was tired of having things start to hurt. It is amazing how many things started to hurt when I wasn't taking care of them as well. I am weaker than I have been in years. I hurt more than I have in years. And I am less happy with myself about it than I have been in years. Sounds like a good place to start.

Synchronized jumping?.. or improving stability when landing… 💪🏾

Walking through another day... With less of a limp...

Dealing with a calf strain or tear is really annoying, unless you can avoid walking, or standing, or anything on your feet. Protect the injured area, progress activity, allow for healing, and avoid reaggravation. Depending on the degree of injury this can be a short period of time or it can take a while and be a test of patience. Good thing is, that when progressed appropriately, you can return to normal activity.

Health is not just being pain free. Taking the step has pain free and being strong is true health! Want to be pain free and healthy, let's talk.

Neck pain can start from so many causes. Poor posture, sleeping wrong, sports activities, car accidents and many more. One short incident can lead to a long time of limitation. Finding ways to improve pain and sensitivity is an important part of getting back to pain free activity.

Hip extension and flexion… just a small part of today’s grind. 💪🏾

Young athletes today are often judged on the NOW - are they able to win for their team today? Can they score the goal tomorrow? Are they keeping up with where all of the other players are during this next practice?

It's easy to see immediate results as the most important ones. What we are disregarding with this mindset are any long-term goals that a young athlete may have.

The young athlete themselves should be at the forefront of any program or team. In order for them to learn and grow, there needs to be a focus on long-term improvement and safety.

Less injuries. More patience. More confidence. Less stress. More knowledge.

What would happen if we celebrated the development of a young athlete’s talent just as much as we celebrated wins?

Sometimes it may seem like negative experiences have the power to take away things that we love. Eating at a specific restaurant, seeing a certain movie, playing a game, or even just sitting outside in the rain.

The truth is - you have the power to take back what you love. You can make that happen. You just have to give yourself permission to do it.

Negative experiences can become attached to something we love. It can take control. We need to do work in order to win those things back.

I understand feeling this loss. I understand allowing something negative to take over. But you are the one who has the opportunity to win it back.

Starting a new workout program may be a part of your New Years resolutions.

No matter when you start, it's important to stay on alert for some common injuries that can occur as your body gets used to a new routine.

Tendinopathy
- causes pain, swelling, and reduced function in a tendon
- tennis elbow, tennis shoulder, hip issues, etc.

Muscle Strains
- can occur when the body is not used to heavy lifting or activities such as running

Overuse Injuries
- can occur when doing certain moves in a repetitive fashion, especially when your body does not yet know how to recover from them
- over time the area of your body that is being used will experience some pain

If you feel pain showing up during or after your workouts, it's important to know when to work through it and when to take a break.

Let's talk through your new program and how it effects you, or let's talk about creating a new program tailored to you.
