Prioritize sleep.

It’s probably obvious to you by now, but sleep is so important – not just for wakefulness, but also for our physical health.

If you are new to exercise, for example, you may be at risk to experience injury when first starting out, when first finding your rhythm.

7-8 hours of restful sleep per night will help you prevent injuries and, if injuries happen to occur, help you significantly reduce your recovery time!

Do you suspect that certain foods are negatively affecting your health?

Our bodies can react negatively to food in three different ways.

We may be allergic to certain foods – these allergies are easy to detect, as symptoms typically appear straight away (uh oh!).

We may be intolerant to certain foods – these symptoms are less alarming, are mainly digestive in nature, and occur when you consume more of a particular food (or nutrient) than your body can properly digest and break down into usable form.

Lastly, we may be sensitive to certain foods.
Sensitivity symptoms are hardest to detect and may include migraine headaches, joint pains and arthritis, brain fog, or digestive complaints, such as gas and bloating.

The easiest way to identify food sensitivities is to test for them.

🎃Your Back Called... It's Not a Fan of Pumpkin Picking Season 🍂

Sure, pumpkins are cute.
But throw your back out trying to lift one?
Not so cute.

Let's be honest:
❌ Bending over like you're in a horror movie? Spine-chilling.
❌ Twisting and lifting like you're auditioning for a scarecrow role? Risky.
❌ Using your back instead of your legs? Pumpkin, please.

✅ The fix? Proper lifting form (plus a little chiropractic wisdom).

💡Bend your knees. Engage your core. Keep the pumpkin close. And lift with your legs — not your spine.
Because nothing ruins fall faster than a back spasm at the pumpkin patch.

🎥 Watch now and lift like a spine pro.

What is the difference between breathwork and meditation, and which one is right for me?

In truth, the two are very similar: both are mindfulness practices, and both promote benefits to the body and mind.

We have found that meditation is more difficult for many to practice with regularity than breathwork, since meditation involves sitting in one place for prolonged periods of time.

Meditation improves attention span, helps reduce memory loss, promotes self-awareness, lowers your biological age, improves REM sleep, and helps stop overeating.

Meditation presupposes correct breathing, while breathwork, on the other hand, actually focuses on changing HOW you breathe so that you ARE able to breathe correctly.

Breathwork is like a workout for your nervous system, and when you regulate your autonomic nervous system through breathwork you experience immediate stress relief and more confidence.

So, when you are trying to figure out whether meditation or breathwork is right for you, ask yourself:

What do I want to gain from my mindfulness practice?
What benefits apply best to my situation?
What can I feasibly and sustainably practice everyday?

And don’t be averse to someday practicing both because, as mentioned, there are benefits to learning how to live in the present AND learning how to breathe properly.

Have you tried meditation?

The wandering mind, which worries about the past, the present, and the future, is associated with decreased happiness.

When our minds wander, this means that our Default Mode Network is active, and one of the main benefits of meditation is to quiet this part of brain:

To dial in our thinking and learn to be present in the now, immune from distraction!

Curious about Yoga, but worried that you may not be flexible enough?

Here’s a perfect beginner pose to help get you started.

The Mountain Pose:

1) Stand with your big toes barely touching, and your heels slightly apart.

2) Press into all four corners of your feet: big toe, little toe, right side heel, left side heel. As you push into your feet, feel how that engages your entire leg and keeps those muscles active.

3) Take a deep breath and roll your shoulders up and back, releasing them down, so your shoulder blades are resting toward each other and your neck is long.

4) Take a few deep breaths here, and close your eyes if you like.

Let us know below how this one makes you feel!

Fight or flight.

You’ve heard of it – the body’s reaction to fear – but what’s actually happening in the brain?

What’s happening is that our autonomic nervous system is activated by the appearance of an existing or imagined threat.

Many years ago, this threat may have appeared in the shape of a bear or some other wild animal on the prowl for your food stores.

Nowadays, however, our pace of life has increased so dramatically from bygone years that our brains are constantly overstimulated, and our fight or flight response is always active.

This means that general anxiety is more common than ever before.

The good news, however, is that by regulating our sympathetic nervous system, we can help reduce our feelings of anxiety and live a more tranquil life 😊

Breathe in. Breathe out.

When we control our breathing, we experience movement beyond the physical into a deeper and clearer appreciation of who we are, what we have been through, where we see ourselves in the future.

By regulating our breathing, we can calm down our nervous system and get it back to the rest and digest state to aid us in whatever we are doing

Though health and wellness cover a broad range of topics, we think the essence of health and wellness is pretty simple:

It’s all about feeling good ;)

It is all about feeling good, but remember that we only feel 20% of our nerves, the other 80% is based on function. While we want you to feel good, we want you to function even better.
