Did you know that there are four different types of stress?

Shocking, we know — try not to stress about it too much ;)

The four types of stress are…

1) Emotional — such as anger, fear, guilt, and shame.
2) Mental — such as perfectionism, anxiety, and worry.
3) Physical — such as poor nutrition, physical exhaustion, and lack of sleep.
4) Psycho-Spiritual — such as lack of spiritual connection and relationship challenges.

Stress is a natural part of life — but too much of it can cause all kinds of health issues.

So what can we do about it?

We recommend taking a holistic approach to managing stress. Holistic stress management involves nourishing different parts of ourselves and our lives.

Here’s what that may look like:

-Getting adjusted to help your nervous system function at its best.
-Staying hydrated and eating nutritious foods.
-Creating connections and socializing with friends.
-Exercising regularly and getting proper rest.
-Practicing mindfulness and meditation to regulate the nervous system.
-Journaling and tracking habits.

A holistic health approach encompasses the various elements of one’s life — and encourages us to increase our awareness and make better choices to live a fulfilling life.

Here are the eight pillars of holistic health:

1) Emotional
2) Social
3) Intellectual
4) Spiritual
5) Physical
6) Nutritional
7) Environmental
8) Financial

Each pillar interacts with the other — and when we neglect one, the rest suffer.

That’s why tending to each of these components is crucial for us to grow and thrive.

As self-care specialists, one question we’re often asked is:

What would holistic wellness do for me anyway?

We’re glad you asked :)

Holistic wellness takes every aspect of the individual into account and considers how they impact the whole being. This kind of approach helps you see all of the moving parts within yourself.

Most importantly, holistic wellness encourages deep introspection to help you become more aware of your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical states.

From there, you can identify what parts need more attention and care — and take steps to meet your various needs.

The purpose of holistic wellness is to balance the mind, body, and spirit and keep them in harmony — thus putting you in the best position to make healthy choices.

And who doesn’t want that ;)
