💪 Deadlift vs Squat – Do You Know the Difference? 🏋️♂️
Most people think “lift with your legs” covers it all… but that’s only half the story. Here’s the key:
✅ Squat → Straight up and down, vertical torso, spine stabilized.
✅ Deadlift → Hip hinge, pelvis back, controlled movement through the hips.
Too often people “squat their deadlifts” or “deadlift their squats” – and that’s where injuries happen. These are two distinct patterns that carry over into daily life. Whether you’re picking up groceries, lifting a grandchild, or moving furniture, knowing when to hinge and when to squat is essential for protecting your spine.
At Gonstead Spine & Wellness, we teach our patients these foundational movements because spinal health depends not only on adjustments, but also on learning how to move well. When you combine proper alignment with proper movement, you stay strong, mobile, and injury-free.
👉 Can you tell when you’re hinging vs squatting in your own workouts or daily life?
