Myles Menges grew up in a small town with one big dream: to play college football. That dream carried him to Fort Hays State University where he spent his collegiate years pouring his heart into the game and serving as team captain and excelling in academics. Through all these achievements, there was one he never thought he would have to add to his collegiate accolades; a brain tumor survivor.

Our new Project SEARCH interns are here! We're so excited to welcome Aiden, Andrew, Blake, Connor, Holden, and Olivia. Project SEARCH is a one-year transition from school-to-work program in partnership with the Shawnee Mission School District for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The primary objective is to help students develop life and work skills to earn competitive employment in an inclusive setting.

When Ashley Young, onboarding and training programs specialist with AdventHealth Shawnee Mission’s Nutrition Services department, discovered she was the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Team Member Award, she admitted to being in shock.

“I’ve never won any kind of award, it felt great to be nominated,” said Young. “I try my best to help people each day; by getting this nomination, I have at least partially succeeded in that endeavor.”

Young stands out for her dedication, passion, and commitment to others. She ensures seamless and supportive experiences for team members, takes ownership of new initiatives, and leads community support efforts. Her contributions embody AdventHealth’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ, making her a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Team Member Award.
