I love to read before bed because it helps to reduce stress and improve sleep, so I started TWO book clubs! Tonight was our first meet for Read & Relax and we had an awesome time. This month we are reading The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali and I’m so excited because I’ve heard so many great things!! Did you know that being on your electronic devices before bed increases blue light exposure? Blue light is known to suppress our melatonin production which is a hormone that is crucial for regulating sleep. When we stay up on our devices, scrolling social media, our brains are processing all of this information instead of winding down and preparing for rest. This can lead to getting you hooked on your device, causing you to stay up later and later. This is exactly how we develop an unhealthy sleep-wake cycle, aka circadian rhythm. So if this you right now put your device down, get cozy, maybe jot down some thoughts from today. What was your favorite part of the day? What are you grateful for? What do you want to accomplish tomorrow? If you havnt been getting great sleep I hope this post inspires you to start new sleep habits tonight :)
