John Giugliano DC PC Part of the medical staff in the Orthopaedic Surgery Department of NorthWell Hospital in Glen Cove.

After Dr. Giugliano received his Bachelor of Science degree, he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic and Certification in Clinical Orthopaedics at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He is Nationally Board Certified as well as Board Certified in the State of New York. He possesses close to 30 years of experience within the health industry, specifically in the fields o

f sports injury and physical medicine. Dr. Giugliano was one of the first chiropractors on Long Island to be certified in Manipulation under Anesthesia (MUA). He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the National Academy of MUA Physicians.

Most people don’t realize how much their sleep position affects their spinal health.

The best way to sleep is on your side with a supportive pillow that fills the space between your head and the mattress, plus another pillow between your legs - not just at the knees, but from your knees all the way down to your feet. Your body naturally stands with space between your legs, and it prefers to sleep that way too!

If you’re more comfortable sleeping on your back, make sure your head pillow supports the curve of your neck and shoulders, and place a pillow under the back of your knees to reduce strain on your spine.

Try to avoid sleeping on your stomach - it twists your neck and puts pressure on your spine, which can lead to pain and stiffness come morning.
