Today, I honor my grandmother, Annie.

She gave life to 13 children.
She carried, nurtured, and sustained a family.

One year after the birth of her youngest son, she died from a massive stroke—leaving behind children who still needed her… including my mother.

At the time, there may not have been language for what happened.
No framework. No intervention. No early stabilization.

But today, I understand more.

I understand that maternal health does not end at delivery.
I understand that blood pressure, stress on the body, and lack of support can have lasting—and fatal—consequences.

MHAAT exists because stories like hers should not be repeated.

This work is not just professional.
It is personal.
It is generational.
It is legacy.

🕊️ For every family still carrying the impact.

As Black Maternal Health Week comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting deeply on the work that continues before us and the responsibility we carry to support mothers with greater care, awareness, and intention.

It is in that spirit that I am honored to introduce MHAAT: Center for Maternal Health Access, Advocacy & Transformation.

MHAAT is grounded in a simple but urgent belief:

Early stabilization plus informed care leads to healthier maternal outcomes.

Our work focuses on supporting mothers across pregnancy and postpartum through:

• Blood pressure awareness and cardiovascular stability
• Nutrition and hydration as foundational care
• Balance across the physical, emotional, and lived experience of motherhood

Grounded in dignity, balance, and justice, MHAAT centers prevention, access, and continuity of care to reduce preventable maternal risks.

This is just the beginning. 💙
