There are lots of things that contribute to the cascade of airway restriction. Tongue tie is one of them. This is why we are so passionate about what we do. Early intervention can stop the airway cascade that follows.
Think nighttime teeth grinding is “just a phase”? Think again.
Grinding isn’t normal.
It’s not just stress. It’s not just teething.
In children, it’s often a red flag. 🚩
👉 Grinding at night is usually the body’s way of trying to open a blocked airway.
Here’s what might be happening:
• The tongue falls back and blocks the airway 💤
• The brain senses low oxygen 😵💫
• The jaw clenches and grinds to move the tongue or airway open 🦷
• Repeat. All. Night. Long.
This is not harmless. It disturbs deep sleep and can lead to:
⚠️ Daytime fatigue
⚠️ ADHD-like behavior
⚠️ Facial growth changes
⚠️ Tooth wear and jaw problems
If your child is grinding their teeth at night, it’s time to look at their breathing.
💡 Nighttime grinding is often the sound of a child struggling to breathe.
