Happy 6 years to međŸ€Ș

It’s hard to believe it’s been 6 years since I started Inspired Health. Honestly, it looks very different now than it did back then. However one thing remains the same, this a business I started because I wanted to help people in a true and authentic way. I believe people have the power to profoundly change their lives with a little support and guidance. Health concerns are abundant these days, but so are solutions.

My journey in business mimics my journey in life. As I continue to learn and grow, so does my business. I’m proud of myself for having the courage to change and shift direction when something was no longer serving me. I would encourage everyone to do the same. We get 1 life to live, so if something isn’t working, be brave and try something different. Inspired Health is a testament to that, so today I celebrate the journey and look forward to what the future might bring 💕

8 weeks of loving our spunky Gracie girl 💕

She’s gained almost 20lbs, lost 8 teeth and dealt with her ear posting for a solid month. Her favorite things are going for runs, laying in the sun and being outside. She also hasn’t found a lap she doesn’t want to sit it! She’s fitting into the family perfectly, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was a little ready for the puppy stage to be over (at least the teething part 😂).

We’re off to an amazing Christmas Break!

Not only did everyone talk to Santa, but everyone was strong enough to hold the shooting game gun this year too! oh the important things in life đŸ€Ł Also thanks to for wearing his Christmas Jammie’s in public, you made your daughter very happy 😘

Cookie decorating went significantly better this year too with more icing going on cookies than in mouths. And only one kid quit before we were done đŸ™ŒđŸ»

And we woke up to SNOW! What a way to start Christmas Break. Hoping the rest of break goes this well đŸ€ž

I know no one in their early to mid 30s wants to hear they are in perimenopause, but they might be!

Some of the symptoms associated with low progesterone are easily written off due to the demands of that stage of life. Of course you’re moody, anxious, tired and struggle sleeping, you’re a mom, a wife, a friend, an employee, a daughter, etc! The demands on women at this age are relentless, so why wouldn’t you feel all these things?!

But what if I told you those feelings could be amplified by low levels of progesterone and that supporting your hormones could make you feel a lot better? Who wouldn’t want that!

Don’t write off your symptoms as “normal” just because they are common (and don’t let your provider do it either!)
Get some labs run and see where your levels are. Ideally progesterone is tested day 21 of your cycle. Once you know where you’re at, you can work to support your hormones and actually feel better! The journey to full menopause can take 10-15 years, don’t let perimenopause be a struggle that whole time.

The truth is, change is hard. When you change, even for the better, that requires others around you to change to a degree.

If you are eating healthier, drinking less and working out more, then that’s proof to the people around you that they can do it too. If no one eats healthy, then no one has to feel bad about it because clearly it’s an unrealistic goal. As soon as someone does it though, it becomes a real possibility. It takes the excuse away and puts the responsibility back on the individual.

This can be hard for people around you to accept, so they may unconsciously undermine your efforts. This isn’t because they are bad people who want you to fail, it’s simply because they don’t want the pressure to have to change themselves.

The best thing you can do is recognize that this is what’s happening and don’t let it impact you.

Remind yourself why you wanted to make this change in the first place and stay focused on that. Eventually those around will accept it and hopefully even be inspired to do better themselves.

Early detection gets a lot of publicity, but it’s not as beneficial as prevention, which is rarely discussed.

This morning on the Today show they were talking about the importance of getting your mammogram in regards to breast cancer. This is an example of Early Detection. While it can be extremely important to detect breast cancer (and all cancer for that matter) early, it’s EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to work towards PREVENTING it.

Prevention means you took steps to decrease the likelihood of cancer before any cells were detectable or even developed. This is where more focus needs to be if we are truly going to improve our health.

The human body is incredibly smart and the number of back up and support systems we have is truly awe inspiring.

When thinking about our blood sugar, we need to start looking at the support systems if we want to actually prevent chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes.

When we do things that consistently raise our blood sugar (consume unhealthy foods, fail to get adequate sleep, constant exposure to blue light, extended periods of chronic stress, etc) our body fights hard to lower that blood sugar. It does this by increasing our insulin to transport the sugar out of our blood and into our cells. Do this for too long and your cells become resistant to that insulin. To compensate, the body will try to pump out even more insulin to try and force the glucose into the cells.

This can happen for YEARS! During this same time, your blood sugar levels may actually appear completely normal. The blood sugar battle is being won, but the insulin battle is being lost. Eventually though, your body won’t be able to keep up and blood sugar levels will slowly rise. However, because your A1C is an AVERAGE of your blood sugar levels over about 3 months, your A1C may still remain “normal” even with elevated fasting insulin AND fasting glucose levels.

As you can see, when your A1C is finally elevated, you’ve likely had a blood sugar stability issue for a very long time.

Instead of waiting for a full blown diabetes diagnosis, be proactive and have your doctor check your fasting insulin. If it’s higher than 5, you need to start making some diet and lifestyle changes. Don’t let years of damage occur as you wait for your A1C to rise.

Nothing better on October 1st than getting “BOOed” by some amazing neighbors 🎃

This is such a sweet tradition in my neighborhood that my kids always look forward to. What makes it even more amazing is this friend took the time to get us items with very little sugar and no food dyes! My kids were very impressed 😉

If I can encourage you to listen to 1 podcast this year for your health and the health of your loved ones, please let it be this one. They do an excellent job explaining why we are in the health crisis we are in as a country (and it’s not the one the news is talking about) and why we MUST change it for our children.

Our children’s generation is set to be the most metabolically unhealthy generation in history and the large majority of these issues could be 100% prevented with diet and lifestyle changes.

If you love the podcast, check out their book Good Energy, it’s amazing too!

Perspective is Everything!

Growing up many of us were taught that if you had a symptom (fever, headache, etc) then the first thing you should do is try to get rid of it. Unfortunately, this thought process stops you from asking the very important question “What is this symptom trying to tell me about my body?”

When you start to see your symptoms as communication from your body, you stop simply looking for a quick fix to eliminate the symptom. You start thinking about where that symptom is coming from and why your body has created it in the first place (a fever could be protecting you by killing a pathogen, a headache could be communicating dehydration that could be negatively impacting other areas of your health).

Once you make this mental shift, you no longer tolerate a pill for an ill sick care approach. You start looking for real answers and for people who can help you find them 💕

We need to start thinking about what we need from our providers and what we are actually getting. If you are going to your provider because you have a bacterial infection that’s spreading, then they are more than likely qualified to treat that. If on the other hand, you are wanting to improve your health (lose weight, improve your hormones, stabilize your blood sugar, etc) your primary care doctor (or even your specialist) may not be appropriately trained in how to help you.

Western medicine is about symptom management, that’s not the same as healing and it won’t make you healthier. Did you ever wonder why when you go on a medication you have to keep increasing it over time? Well that’s because you aren’t healing the root cause of that problem. You are managing the uncomfortable symptoms you experience as the disease/dysfunction is allowed to grow in your body. Once the disease/dysfunction is stronger than your dose, you gotta up the dose.

It’s ok to have someone you see for life saving measures and someone else you see to improve your health. But you have to be honest about what you need and what your provider is doing for you. I have worked with far too many people who have wasted years getting sicker and sicker because they thought their provider was going to improve their health when that was never the plan. If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time to do something else!
