Your child has hopefully been having a summer of being outside, creative and imaginative unstrucket play. Whether they are at home or went to camp- the summer presents with more opportunities to be outside. Less sitting structured activities…. Less cognitive demands.

You have had a summer of being outside- your child does instinctual things to self regulate. Outdoor time is crucial and one of the best ways to learn and self correct quickly.

Now- we are sending them back into the classroom all day with a new regimented routine. More sitting time. More demands on the body and demands on the brain.

We will talk about 3 things you can implement in the next month to support your child to have a successful return to school!

Big pharma funds many of the studies in the US that educate and support how we should be diagnosing and treating ADHD....anyone see a problem with that?
I have some challenges with the methods used in France but I think this article does highlight a different perspective.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 11% of American children between the ages of 4 and 17 have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as of 2011. However, if you ask the American Psychiatric Association (APA), they maintain th...

Truth!!!

Here’s to a braver 2017...

At the close of every year I ask myself four questions:

1. What do I want more of in my life?

2. How do I let go of what’s no longer serving me?

3. What will make me feel more alive? Braver?

4. At the end of every day and at the end of every year, I need to know that I contributed more than I criticized. How have I contributed and what will that look like moving forward?

Despite the divisiveness and hateful rhetoric (and actions) that have marked the past two months, I still believe that we are more the same than we are different. As I reflect on my answers to these questions, I have to believe that many of you share these yearnings:

• I want more joy, more connection, more courage and more love.

• Fear, judgment, and exhaustion are no longer serving me.

• Nothing makes me feel more alive than joy. I’ve struggled with this because I haven’t been practicing gratitude as much as I would like to, and I know that gratitude is the foundation of joy.

• I think I contributed by speaking my truth while trying to be respectful, and I was brave even when it meant taking hits from critics and cynics.

As we head into the new year, I made a big decision at COURAGEworks to start with a new parenting collection that focuses on how we raise courageous children and build messy, beautiful, wholehearted families.

I hope you’ll join me as we enter into a braver 2017, where together, we will transform the way we raise our children and make the world a braver place.

Yes!!! Hello!!! Recess. Move your body. Release energy. Activate and wake up your mind. Rebecca Hale

It isn’t easy being a kid these days: the school day has changed a great deal since the current generation of grade school kids’ parents were in school. With a greater emphasis on school work and testing, something in the school day had to disappear to make way for the focus on more academic pursuit...
