🐾 It's Furry Friend Friday! 🐾

Meet Bodhi, a delightful 2-year-old poodle/lab/husky mix who brings joy everywhere he goes! With his expressive face, perky ears, and incredibly soft fur, Bodhi has a gentle, generous spirit that makes him an instant favorite with everyone he meets. 💛

Bodhi’s person is Barbara Thorngren (right), and rounding out the team is fellow dog-lover and co-partner Sue Wheatley (left). Together, this trio spreads smiles and comfort wherever they visit.

Fun fact: Bodhi’s name comes from bodhichitta in Sanskrit, a term connected to compassion and an awakened heart — a perfect name for a pup who shares so much kindness. 🐶✨

Join us on March 26th for a spectacular Wine Dinner featuring exceptional selections from Keenan Winery of Napa Valley, hosted at the beautiful Vesper Country Club, a venue renowned for its outstanding cuisine and elegant atmosphere.

The evening begins with delicious hors d’oeuvres, followed by a thoughtfully curated three-course dinner, each course perfectly paired with Keenan wines. Our experience will be expertly guided by Van Potts of Preston-Layne & Partners, who will share insights into the wines and their Napa Valley heritage.

Best of all, proceeds from this special evening will benefit our Community Hospice House, helping us continue to provide compassionate care to patients and families when they need it most.

Raise a glass for a great cause! More details available on our website: https://hhhc.org/community-hospice-house-spring-fundraiser.

We can’t wait to share this incredible night with you!

We are incredibly proud to share that our volunteer, Mary Wiseman, has been nominated for the 20 Outstanding Women Campaign presented by Hannaford Supermarkets, Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast, and WZID Manchester.

Mary’s heart for service shines through her work with HHHC. In her first year alone, she became a certified Death Doula, created the Run, Bike, Hike fundraiser raising over $45,000, sat vigil with patients at end of life, and now leads grief support groups and monthly Death Café gatherings to create safe spaces for conversations around loss.

She leads with heart, serves with humility, and continues to uplift our entire community. We are so grateful for Mary and so proud to see her recognized. 💛

March is Social Work Month, and we are proud to celebrate this year’s theme: Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

Every day, our social workers walk alongside patients and families during some of life’s most tender moments. They uplift by offering compassion and emotional support. They defend by advocating for dignity, access, and patient wishes. They transform by helping families find strength, understanding, and connection in the midst of uncertainty.

Throughout the month, we’ll be featuring members of our incredible social work team and highlighting the meaningful impact they make in the lives of those we serve.

Join us as we celebrate the heart, dedication, and unwavering advocacy of our social workers. 💙

☕💬 Join us for our March Death Café. If you're curious about what to expect, here's one participant's experience:

"We were sitting quietly in a small circle, seven people gathered to talk about death, fear, loss, and the possibility of reconnecting with ourselves and the world.

'I have a question…' someone began. And just like that, the silence softened.

Each of us carried our own stories of love and loss, yet compassion filled the room. We spoke about connection, about protecting those we love, about loneliness at the end of life, and the profound importance of simply being present. The 'elephant in the room,' Death, was not avoided, but gently invited in.

I drove home feeling more alive than ever."

That is the heart of Death Café. An open, thoughtful conversation about life, death, and everything in between. There’s no agenda, just honest dialogue and some good treats. This gathering is part of our ongoing monthly series, held on the first Wednesday of every month. All are welcome.

📅 Next session: Wednesday March 4th, 6:00–7:30pm

We're rewinding the clock for National Retro Day!

We dug into the photo archives and found some amazing blasts from the past — from the Hospice House being built, to one of our early pet therapy pups, the Good Cheer Society circa the 1940s, these are wonderful snapshots of years gone by.

The hairstyles are different and the photos may be vintage, but one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to caring for this community with compassion and heart. 💙

Meet one of our beloved Pet Therapy Teams, Team Moxie! 🐾

Moxie is an 11-year-old black Labrador and a seasoned pet visitor who sees more than 25 hospice patients each week across three partner facilities. Everyone smiles when she arrives, and she has a special instinct for people who need extra comfort or a doggie hug. You may also recognize Moxie from last year’s Pet Therapy Calendar.

We are so grateful to Moxie and her handlers, Maureen and Rod Lockwood, for the comfort and joy they bring to our community.

Recently, we received this note from a family after their dad’s stay at the Hospice House.

“We are profoundly grateful and truly blessed to have experienced the compassionate and loving care shown by every staff member and volunteer our family encountered while my dad was at the Hospice House. From the moment we arrived, we realized this was truly heaven on earth.

Within such a tender time, we quickly formed personal connections with what began as strangers. Sharing stories brought laughter, tears, and warm hugs filled with love and strength that helped us carry on. The sense of comfort and understanding we felt is beyond words.

A very heartfelt thank you to our dad’s caregivers and the devoted volunteers who so generously gave of themselves. Their gentle strength, calming presence, and the visits from therapy dogs brought immense comfort and peace.

We will forever carry this experience in our hearts.”

We are honored to care for families in this sacred season of life. 💛

We are incredibly grateful to FEEDNH and WZID Manchester for choosing HHHC as a beneficiary of December’s Hope for the Holidays Campaign. Because of their generosity and the support of our community, $5,000 will directly support compassionate care for the patients and families we serve.

Recently, FEEDNH Program Director Emma Fraser visited the Community Hospice House to present the check to Paula Telage, Director of Philanthropy. It was a wonderful moment that reflects what can happen when organizations come together to make a difference.

Thank you to FEEDNH, WZID, and everyone who contributed to making this gift possible. Your support truly brings hope to the holidays and beyond.
