“No Hoof, No Horse” - and how PEMF can help
Did you know horses carry about 60% of their weight on their front legs, and about 40% on their back legs? If you break that down, a 1,000lb horse is carrying approximately 300lbs on each front leg and about 200lbs on each hind leg! So when just one hoof fails, imagine the extra load the other limbs are compensating for, that they were never designed to support!
So what can be done, for our equine athletes to help keep all 4 feet underneath them, in addition to the amazing things our Veterinarians and Farriers plan out for them in the event of a hoof issue?
PEMF is an incredible added benefit, and here’s a few reasons why
🩶Improves Circulation: Delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the hoof, helping prevent soreness and cracks from long hours on unforgiving ground, but also aiding in the recovery of present issues.
🩶Reduces Inflammation and promotes healthy growth: Soothes bruising, abscesses, and tender soles so your horse stays comfortable
🩶Speeds Recovery: Did you know, with my MagnaWave machine, it’s possble to pull an abscess from a foot in a matter of a couple days, when paired with your veterinarian’s protocol?! The increased circulation and reduction in inflammation helps the body to heal faster, and stronger than before! Also great for horses coming off a long week of rodeos, brandings, or hauling — helps their feet and sore joints bounce back quicker.
🩶Relieves Compensation Pain and Fatigue: when a horse takes their weight off of one limb, it’s dispersed to other limbs that were never designed, or conditioned to take on that load, and can quickly become very exhausted, sore, and painful. PEMF is an amazing way to keep the whole body feeling comfortable, in times of lameness.
For my family, and a lot of the clients I see, our horses put in some serious miles. And we all know how quickly a hoof issue can take them out of commission, which can be a lengthy and frustrating problem when there’s cattle and buckles to chase.
Your horses work hard for you — a little extra care goes a long way toward keeping them sound, comfortable, and ready for the next job or the next run. Healthy hooves mean more miles, smoother rides, deeper stops, turns, and faster times.
