✨Saturday Student Spotlight✨

Hi my name is Amelia and I am 10 years old. My love for horses started at age 5 on a trail ride and been riding and learning ever since.

Being a part of AZ Rodeo Ready for the last year has introduced me to the sport of barrel racing and I love it!! I don’t have my own horse so being able to ride a variety of Katie’s horses (and she has a lot 🤩) is so much fun. The instructors are all awesome and have helped me improve so much. They see my potential and push me out of my comfort zone.

I admire Katie and her team so much…they have a ton of experience and knowledge and make learning fun….the horses help too 💖 😁 I am confident I’ll reach my riding goals and dreams. My dream is to own my own horse one day and win a buckle 🙏

I love the friends I made at the barn but I also play club volleyball, and love doing anything outdoors like riding bikes and swimming. I’m a 5th grader and my favorite subjects in school is literature and math.

I love being part of the barn family at AZ Rodeo Ready 💛

Why Everyone Working With Horses Should Understand Their Anatomy 🐴✨

Knowledge of equine anatomy is essential for anyone involved in horse care or training. Accurate understanding of musculoskeletal structure, joint function, and biomechanical movement allows for:

• Improved training efficiency — Working with the horse’s natural range of motion reduces mechanical stress and enhances performance.

• Injury prevention — Recognizing how tendons, ligaments, and load-bearing structures function helps reduce strain and avoid overuse injuries.

• Early detection of abnormalities — Familiarity with normal anatomy makes it easier to identify gait irregularities, swelling, heat, or asymmetry.

• Proper tack fit and management — Knowledge of pressure points, spinal structure, and muscle groups ensures equipment supports rather than hinders the horse.

In short, understanding anatomy supports better biomechanics, safer handling, and overall equine soundness.

✨Saturday Student Spotlight✨
Hi, I’m Isaiah. I’m 29 years old, and a fun fact about me is that I have a degree in Russian. I’ve been riding at AZ Rodeo Ready since April of this year. Before that, I hadn’t ridden since childhood. Since I started lessons with Angelina, I’ve made great progress towards my goals, and have become much more confident riding and being around horses. In June I started roping lessons with Hasardous, and I’ve picked up a new activity I never imagined I’d be able to learn. I can’t wait to keep progressing in my journey here!

We are excited for our upcoming barrel race series to continue! New dates will be out soon!
