WORKING A LOT? THIS IS HOW OVERWORK AFFECTS MEN’S HEALTH
Overworking can have detrimental effects on your health, including
- Increased stress levels
- Fatigue
- Decreased immune function
- Disrupted sleep patterns
- Higher risk of mental health issues
- Cardiovascular problems
- Hormonal imbalances
…which can negatively impact your overall well-being and quality of life.
Overwork can specifically negatively affect testosterone levels by increasing stress and cortisol production, which can disrupt hormonal balance, decrease testosterone production, and lead to lower testosterone levels in the body.
Here’s how to put things back on track:
SET BOUNDARIES: Consider and discuss your desired availability, preferred methods of communication, and when to say no…in advance
DELEGATE: Take the time to find and train people who can support you at work or at home.
TAKE BREAKS: Breaks every 1-2 hours can help promote better cortisol regulation and overall well-being. Leave your workspace for 10-15 mins.
RELAX: Schedule in a calming activity daily. Go to a meditation group, get out into nature, read, or make time for intimacy with your partner–do whatever relaxes you!
