Addiction is a primary condition - meaning it's not simply the symptom of some other problems. People are not addicted simply because drugs or alcohol make them less depressed or anxious. It may be why they stared using but once the addiction begins it becomes a primary disorder that needs to be treated as well.. Addiction in addition to other psychological disorders places addiction as a primary disorder treating the psychological disorder does not mean the addiction is treated or visa versa ( YOU CAN'T JUST TREAT ONE CONDITION TO FIX BOTH)
