Banner Health held a career awareness event this week at the Mesa Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) and it was a huge success! One of the event participants named Roman, who’s in the picture wearing a hat, will be interviewing with Supply Chain at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. There were many other applicants that were being screened during the event and the recruiters were helping them apply and set up interviews. We partnered with MVRC after our recent fundraiser where Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital donated money and gift cards. Nicole Pogue, executive director of MVRC, shared that they donated the gift cards to veterans that needed gas, groceries, or a meal.

Not all our caregivers wear a Stethoscope!

Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital celebrated their therapy dogs on National Dog Day! We love our four-legged volunteers and are so grateful to have them on our team!

Volunteer Cheryl and her therapy dog George Harrison, visit patients and staff on our hospital campus to help bring smiles to their day and provide a sense of peace and comfort to those who need it most.

Being in a hospital, away from the comforts of home and family, can be frightening. That’s where our therapy dogs come in. Therapy dogs, like Carl, who volunteers at both hospitals, have a gift for reducing stress. Studies have shown that petting a dog can lower blood pressure and heart rate and release endorphins that help block pain.

Volunteer Chris shares two of her precious therapy dogs at Banner Baywood and Banner Heart each week to brighten the lives of others and help those who may be scared, afraid, upset or just need a furry hug.

"I'll have people come in and dance with me," said Judy.
