I always enjoy learning new things and being able to do more for patients in pain. As a Pain Management doctor, I feel that it’s my duty to stay up to date with the latest treatments and technology advances in my specialty.
For many years, and even now still, the average person relates “Pain Management“ to pills, medications, and dangerously addictive narcotics and opiates. Actually managing pain is so much more than just a prescription of pills to be taken daily. It should involve a careful evaluation and determination of WHY you’re having pain and what can be done to relieve that pain.
Today I learned a new procedure called Intracept by for chronic low back pain present for greater than 6 months and failed to resolved with conservative traditional treatment such as physical therapy, epidural steroid injections, and radiofrequency ablations. There are a few more important selection criteria but that’s the gist. This treatment is a GAME CHANGER for those in chronic ongoing low back pain, no matter how old or young. This is a non-surgical procedure. Patients as young as 21 years old have this done and experienced over 85% of relief for more than 6 years so far! Mind blowing! 🤯
I love REAL science. I love real advances in medicine. And I love helping people feel better. Thanks for getting me trained on this cutting edge treatment.
Coolest parts of the night?
