Colostrum, the first milk produced, is a thick, concentrated, and protein-rich substance uniquely designed for a newborn's needs. Around day 3 to 5, as your baby's stomach grows, your milk will transition from colostrum to mature milk, with a shift in nutrient content to better support your baby's continued growth. This change in milk volume and composition is a normal and vital part of your baby’s development.

Are you preparing for your birth and wondering what to pack? Birth centers are stocked with many of the basics, so you do not need to overpack. Towels, birthing stools, tubs, and birth balls are ready and available for use. Medical supplies for labor and delivery are always on hand. After the birth, you will have access to basic postpartum supplies such as pads, mesh underwear, and peri bottles.

Your essentials are covered, so there’s no need to pack like you’re moving in.
