Yesterday I talked about one of the side effects of stress- nausea.
When your body is in a stressed state it will inhibit the production of stomach acid. But that's not the only thing that can decrease acid production. Anything your body views as a stressor can influence acid secretions.
🍁Are you over 60?
🍁Do you eat a lot of "junk"/overly processed food?
🍁Are you fighting a gut infection, parasites, or other form of dysbiosis?
🍁Is it stress?
-Have you started a new job in the last 6 months?
-Are you going through a break up?
-Are you taking care of family members?
🍁Are you following a vegetarian or vegan diet? As these diets are notorious for causing malnutrition and providing key nutrients like zinc, which is key in stomach acid production. Which then causes absorption issues other key nutrients.
🍁Do you have a chronic inflammatory condition such as, an Autoimmune condition?
🍁Are you taking acid blockers like Tums, Rolaids, Prilosec or the like? While these provide temporary relief, you're actually doing the exact opposite of what your body is asking for, which is more acid.
🍁Are you sleeping enough?
Stomach Acid production is one of the things I find most fascinating. Weird, I know. But our bodies are crazy influenced by everything we think, we do, we eat, drink, if we sleep and sleep well, everything!
