Over at 🌞A Brighter Avenue we believe visuals are powerful tools for children with autism. They make information clear, concrete, and predictable. Many children process visual information more easily than spoken words, so pictures, symbols, or written cues help them understand expectations and routines.

Visual supports also reduce anxiety by showing what will happen next, offering structure, and giving children a way to communicate their needs when words are difficult. They promote independence, understanding, and confidence—turning abstract concepts into something tangible and accessible.

We have visuals available for important daily tasks such as 🚽potty training and🪥 teeth brushing. These supports break the steps down into simple, easy-to-follow cues, helping little ones build independence and confidence in learning essential self-care skills.

Fun Friday in the ELC means making yummy treats as a group! Our latest favorite was homemade lemonade! Each child had the oppurtunity to squeeze lemons and stir the lemonade, giving them a hands-on sensory experience while building important fine motor and life skills. These simple moments create big learning opportunities!

It’s finally time for our new building reveal! Join us Thursday, September 2nd between 12:00 and 7:00 pm to tour our Speech, OT and Music Cottages, our Early Learning Center Village, our state of the art sensory room, and our Town Gym featuring 10 swings, 3 slides, a realistic indoor rock wall, and more! Bring the kids and check it out!
