Basement Bathroom during basement finish
Bathroom 1 of 2 in a basement finish project. I thought it turned out nice even though the wall tiles were a pain to keep level due to irregular edges. Now just waiting on custom glass shower door to be installed.

I am working on tiling this bulkhead. My intention is to tile the whole thing and do bullnose tile for the outside edge. Can I cut the tile length wise and place the cut edge against the bullnose tile as long as I use spacers or is that going to look bad? I’d really like it to look cohesive and have the tiles line up from the side to the bulkhead. Thank you for your help.

Thanks. I think it turned out pretty cool, too. I had a minute after I'd gotten the tiles, before it got started where I was a little worried it was going to look ridiculous, but I'm happy with it.

Is this bathroom tile job as bad as I think it is?
I'm about 5 weeks into a bathroom remodel. The tiler is about to wrap up in the next day or so and I'm pretty unimpressed with what I'm seeing. It looks like a number of tiles are misaligned, some are jutting out at an angle, and the wide gaps on the corners near the ceiling look rough. Also, I'm concerned about the trim around the window and niche.
Is this as bad as I think it is? We're going to use a relatively light colored grout so in theory some of the minor misalignment shouldn't be visible, but I'm still concerned.
I'm going to flag this to my contractor tomorrow but want some informed opinions fir

Tile job by contractor - are we being picky or is this not good?
Hey everyone, wanted to check here to get opinions about this tile job. We hired some contractors to do this shower (also they used Schluter and Kerdi board) and we just now checked out the details after they left on Friday since we didn’t want to step on the grout for a while. Main complaints - cuts around drain and vent aren’t good and look sloppy, grout is very heavy handed in some spots and there’s also quite a few small air bubbles we’ve found (maybe 15-20 so far?), there’s a crack in one of the installed subway tiles that just got grouted over lol, and the edges where the tile meets the baseboards are rough. Some parts will be covered up by the quarter round that we need to reinstall but surely it won’t all be covered up? I don’t think the contractors are “done” in the sense that hopefully they’re going to clean up the grouty smears everywhere, they still have to install shower door, etc. But i wanted to check and see what you guys thought, because maybe these are small details we won’t notice once the bathroom is fully finished? Or is this a pretty rough situation? Just wanting to see if we are getting tunnel vision or if our concerns are valid lol.

Should I be asking for this to be redone?
Didn’t see this before the tile went up for the shower. So nervous about mentioning it. Corners of the shower are wider at the bottom and skinny to the point of only being grout at the top. Even the niche has a sliver on the left instead of positioning that would look less awkward.

Would I be fair to pay the contractor only 90% the agreed amount for this job to me being dissatisfied.
I wanted a wet room built that when completed will be behind a shower glass with 2 shower fixtures and a semi-free standing jetted tub. In my original design I had planned to make the entire wet room waterproof including the area around the tub. I am considering paying the contractor 90% of the agreed amount because I'm not satisfied with the amount of waterproofing that is being done and the placement of the gfi. Would that be fair?

Second time working with tile. You pros should probably charge more 😂
Came here the other night for tips on working with this hex tile before laying it down. Well here’s the finished product and some progress photos.

I’m a pretty competent DIYer and usually hate to hire anything out, but I def may hire out tile next time. You guys are worth every penny. I’m satisfied for the finished product, but 12 hours later and my stress level was never so high during this job lol. Fighting the clock, small areas, a tough pattern with a lot of ways to screw up.

Glad it’s over. Can’t wait to install the bar cabinets once it’s fully cured 🤙🏼

Fixing floor transition drop - should i grind the concrete underlayment to get to a 1/2” FF drop?
I’m in the middle of remodeling my bathroom and have only done tile once before. I’ve put down 1/4” concrete board and then self leveling concrete on top of it (yes, I now know I should have done those in reverse order). Trouble is, the floor was lower at the bathroom door, so more self leveler went there. Now, without even putting the tile on, the step-up from the master bedroom lvp floor is 5/8 - 3/4”. And my understanding is that 1/2” is the max acceptable drop.

I’m putting in 8x8” tile. I’ve dry fit them so I know I’m starting with a full row at the threshold. So could I/should I get an diamond cup wheel and grind this underlayment down so my first row of tile is sloping?

Tiled my toilet this week
First time tiling and super happy with the results! Had to self level the floor and do a lot of learning, but super satisfied 🥳

I was just wondering what you guys think I should do above the tile? Paint? VJ board?

The window is being replaced with an aluminium slider and I have a Caroma Luna CleanFlush on the way
