Sunland Home Care

Sunland Home Care Sunland Home Care

Offering peace of mind while caring for your loved one. We are able to provide care in the home for up to 24 hours a day.

Our goal is to provide peace of mind by assisting people to age in the comfort of their home. This can include a companion visit, assistance showering, dressing, meal preparation and transportation. We strive to prevent hospital readmissions by striving to monitor the care at home after a serious illness, fall or surgery. Our caregivers are compassionate and trained to handle the people we serve.

I see this all the time with families…

Everything is “fine”… until it’s not.

People wait until there’s a fall or a hospital visit before bringing in help—and by then, it’s stressful and reactive.

The truth is, starting care earlier can actually prevent those moments and help your loved one stay independent longer.

If this thought has crossed your mind even once, it might be time to talk about it.

When people think about in-home care, they usually focus on the tasks—help with bathing, meals, medication reminders.

And those things are important.

But in my experience, that’s not what matters most to people.

What truly makes a difference is the human connection.

Having someone there to talk with, to listen, to share a moment with—that’s the part you can’t put a price on.

Because people don’t just need help… they need connection.

One of the hardest things for adult daughters is asking for help.

It feels like once you start care, there’s no going back.
Like you’re giving something up.

But that’s not true.

Care can start small.
It can be flexible.
It doesn’t have to be forever.

Sometimes just a few hours of help can take the pressure off
so you can stop being the caregiver…
and go back to being the daughter ❤️

I had a conversation last week that I haven’t stopped thinking about.

I ran into a former client’s wife. We had taken care of her husband while they were here in Arizona. He had dementia and was slowly declining.

She shared something so honest.

She said that she and her sons had agreed on certain “points” where they would bring in more help.

But when those moments came… she kept moving the goalpost.

Not intentionally. Not consciously.

But because it’s so hard when you’re in it.

It’s hard to accept change.
It’s hard to ask for help.
It’s hard to let go of what used to be.

And by the time she realized it, she was completely overwhelmed.

I see this happen all the time with families.

We tell ourselves, “When it gets worse, we’ll get help.”
But when “worse” comes, it doesn’t feel like the right time.

If you’re in this place right now, I just want to say — you’re not alone. And getting support sooner can make all the difference, for both of you.

When families hire home care, one of the most common questions we get is about medications.

A client’s son recently asked if our caregivers could manage medications for his parents. It’s a great question — and an important one.

In Arizona, non-medical home care companies should not administer or manage medications. We aren’t licensed or regulated to do that, and medication reconciliation is something that should be handled by a nurse.

At Sunland Home Care, our caregivers provide medication reminders, but when it comes to organizing medications, coordinating refills, and ensuring everything is correct, we partner with a private duty nursing company that specializes in medication management.

Good care means knowing your role and making sure families have the right professionals involved so their loved ones stay safe, healthy, and out of the hospital.

Sometimes it takes a team to make sure someone is safe and supported at home. Professional guardians, attorneys, and home care providers often work together to protect vulnerable adults and ensure they receive the care they need.
