Boundaries are for protection and containment. I ask my clients to visualize a hula hoop around them. Inside that hula hoop is your time, energy, and peace. You get to decide who has access to those things and how much you give them is determined by understanding your own limitations. Happy Monday 💕😊

I have the honor of working with several late diagnosed adults on the autism spectrum. It amazes me the amount of misinformation out there about autism. There are similarities in traits but every person on the spectrum presents uniquely. Judy singer introduced the concept of neurodiversity to describe how, as humans, our brains develop differently. Elisabeth Wiklander discusses her personal experience as a 28-year-old diagnosed with Aspberger's syndrome, which went away under the DSM IV, and is now under the umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

My mother passed away on Wednesday. As much as I thought I was prepared, I wasn’t. The grief comes in crashing waves that completely take me under. As a therapist, it’s my job to be present for my clients, so it’s important I take care of myself first. Spending time with loved ones, moving through the feelings, eating right, physical movement daily, and of course, my own therapy.

I talk to my clients about the stages of grief, but describe it as a circular process in which you can move back and forth between the stages. Grief is not a linear process and there’s no timeframe. We don’t get to wake up one day and say “oh good I’m no longer grieving.” Please be gentle and kind to yourself. 💜🙏❤️‍🩹😇

In 2018 I had an ovarian cancer scare. My OB/GYN told me she needed to remove my right o***y. When she opened me up she wasn’t even able to get to my o***y due to endometriosis. She said it was one of the worst cases she had ever seen and informed me I needed a full hysterectomy ASAP. After having ALL of my female reproductive organs removed, I was immediately put on Estrodial. In 2022 I was living in a new city and went to see my new OB/GYN who informed me I could only be on Estrodial for 5 years and needed to begin tapering off. After reading Dr. Haver’s book it’s opened my eyes to how much misinformation is actually out there. If you are a woman in perimenopause or menopause, it’s important to inform yourself of the risks and benefits of HRT. Incidentally, the risks aren’t near what they had us previously believing. I encourage you to empower yourself with the tools to live your best life… physically, emotionally, spiritually 💜. I strongly recommend starting with this book.
