Why does prostate cancer screening matter? Because early detection can be lifesaving. Prostate cancer caught in its early stages is often confined and highly treatable. Screenings, like the PSA blood test, can identify changes before symptoms appear, giving you more treatment options and a greater chance of successful recovery.

Without regular screenings, prostate cancer may not be detected until it’s more advanced, when treatment can be more difficult.

Prioritize your health today. Talking to your doctor about screening options and resources is a small step that can make a big impact. 🧡

Do you know when you should get screened for prostate cancer? Typically, guidelines depend on your age and risk level.

Here’s what doctors recommend:
🩺 Age 50+: Talk with your provider about a PSA blood test.
🩺 Age 45+: Men over the age of 45 who are African American or who have a close relative diagnosed before age 65 are considered high-risk for their age and should discuss screening earlier than most.
🩺 Age 40+: If you have multiple family members who were affected at an early age, consider an even earlier conversation as you may be at even higher risk for your age group.

Risk factors like age, family history, and race all play a role. The best next step is an open discussion with your doctor about what’s right for you. A few minutes talking with your provider could help protect your long-term health.

Most men think prostate cancer will show obvious symptoms. The truth is, in its early stages, prostate cancer often has no noticeable signs at all. That’s why regular screenings are so important. Waiting for symptoms could mean missing the window for early detection and easier treatment.

Some possible symptoms that may appear in later stages include:
- Trouble urinating or changes in urinary flow
- Blood in the urine
- Discomfort in the pelvic area

Don’t rely on symptoms alone. Being proactive about your health makes all the difference.

Myth: “It’s just caffeine, like coffee, right?”

Reality: Energy drinks can contain up to 5-times the caffeine of a cup of coffee — plus added stimulants that strain the heart. These drinks can trigger arrhythmias, hypertension, and heart palpitations, even in young people. 🫀
