January is Healthy Weight Awareness Month

With each new year come New Year’s resolutions that typically include losing weight, eating healthier and focusing on fitness. Eating healthy and staying active can benefit both your physical and mental well-being. This “Healthy Weight Awareness Month,” your friends at Anvoi Hospice are raising awareness on how seniors can reach and maintain a healthy weight.

Start by increasing your physical activity. The CDC offers these suggestions:
1. Write down your health-related goals and routine
2. Ask your doctor which types of exercise might work best for you based on your age and/or health conditions
3. Set aside three or more blocks of time each week for exercise.
4. Participate in a group activity that involves exercise.
5. Use your smartphone to access workout videos when traveling or on the go.

What is Hospice?
A type of treatment that focuses on symptom management for patients who are battling a terminal illness. At Anvoi Hospice, care is delivered by a team of professionals who address the patient’s needs on medical, physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. The team consists of the patient’s attending physician, hospice medical director, registered nurse, certified nurse assistant, social worker, chaplain, and trained volunteers.
It’s about a higher quality of life.
