OIT is supposed to help your child. Not break you both down every night.

A parent shared their exhausting OIT journey on social media, and my heart broke. Nightly tears, refused doses, belly pain needing two medications to control — that's not okay, and it's totally a red flag that should be discussed with your allergist. OIT should not feel like this.

Listen to the latest episode “Answering Food Allergies Questions from Social Media Posts” on the Food Allergy and Your Kiddo podcast to hear the full questions and answers!

One of the questions I get most from allergy families: How do I protect my baby when my older child already has a food allergy?

It's completely doable, but it takes planning and routine. put it so well: when you have predictability built into your day, you can find the right windows to introduce higher-allergen foods safely and confidently.

Rest isn't a luxury for parents. It's the foundation.

Laura from got beautifully honest about this: after nearly 20 years of 90-hour weeks and hundreds of calls, the toll on her mental and physical health was real. "I can be a much better mom when I'm rested." As a physician, I couldn't agree more.

Can we talk about how incredible this generation of dads is?

and I geeked out over this one. Attentive, involved, present, these dads are genuinely killing it and they deserve to hear that.

Share this with a dad who needs the encouragement. 👏

Before sleep training, before schedules, it starts with confidence.

reminds us that babies are born knowing how to sleep. What gets in the way is parental uncertainty. Laura said it perfectly: “When that confidence is there, everything else falls into place, less stress, more joy.”

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re doing enough — you are.

I had the best conversation with about the impossible amount of information today’s moms are navigating. As Jennifer put it: “If you’re worried whether or not you’re doing it right, then you’re doing it right. Bad parents don’t worry about that kind of thing.”

I always encourage a collaborative approach, because allergy treatments are tools to grow tolerance — not a competition.

I dive deeper into this in “Navigating Food Allergies: A Parent’s Guide to Care, Coverage, and Confidence”, where I emphasize preparation over panic, teamwork over guesswork, and informed decision-making over misinformation.

Is using peanut butter for OIT using a “non-FDA approved” treatment for food allergies?

I make the compelling case that “doctors are trained to make medical decisions” and use evidence to best care for the child in front of them and that truly practicing medicine means stepping up when others fall short.

I’d love to hear your thoughts after you listen to my full perspective on the podcast.
