LSBEFD is now accepting resumes for an Inspector/Investigator

The opening for an Inspector/Investigator for the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors centers on statewide inspections and regulatory compliance for funeral establishments and crematories in Louisiana. The Inspector/Investigator ensures adherence to Louisiana laws governing funeral service (La. R.S. 37:831–884) and rules ( LAC Title 46 Professional and Occupational Standards Part ###VII. Embalmers and Funeral Directors) and may also support complaint investigations.

The LSBEFD office will be closed on the following dates:
Wednesday, December 24, 2025 – Christmas (Proclaimed Holiday)
Thursday, December 25, 2025 – Christmas (Legal Holiday)
Friday, December 26, 2025 – Christmas (Proclaimed Holiday)

The office will re-open on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 8:30 AM.

LICENSE RENEWAL REMINDER
Funeral Director, Funeral Director and Embalmer, and Funeral Establishment licenses are in the renewal period time.
All renewals must be received on or before Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The Louisiana State Board of Embalmers & Funeral Directors Office will be closed on Tuesday November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day. We will resume regular office hours on Wednesday November 12, 2025.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day commemorates the service of all U.S. veterans, while the older Memorial Day, which grew out of Civil War commemorations, specifically honors those who have died while in military service.

Louisiana Cemetery Board Presentation

During the Board meeting of the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors (LSBEFD) held on Tuesday, August 7th, Mr. Jerry W. Sullivan, Director of the Louisiana Cemetery Board, delivered a presentation regarding the role, responsibilities, and regulatory powers of the Louisiana Cemetery Board.

As part of his presentation, Mr. Sullivan informed the board and its licensees that a comprehensive list of all cemeteries currently registered with the Louisiana Cemetery Board is publicly accessible online. To assist funeral professionals across the state, we are providing the link to this resource below.
