Emerging research from Stephanie Otto highlights the fascial matrix as a primary regulator of hormonal, mechanical, and immune health across the female lifespan.

Here’s why this matters:
🔄 The Hormone Connection
Estrogen directly impacts fascial elasticity, hydration, and healing capacity — influencing everything from menstrual cycles to menopause.

🤰✨ Lifespan Support
Fascia plays a quiet but powerful role in pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pelvic floor function.

🎗️ Oncology Insight
Changes in fascial mobility and tissue density can influence the cellular environment, making tissue health an important part of integrative cancer care.

👐🌿 Healing Through Touch
Targeted manual therapy and myofascial release help reduce fibrosis, restore glide, and support functional recovery.

💡 These concepts are further explored in Dr. Kelly Davis’ conversation with Carla Stecco at the Fascia Research Congress in August 2025— where they dive into the key physiological differences between male and female fascial tissue and what that means for treatment, performance, and long-term health.

🎥 You can watch the full interview on YouTube (link in comments) — a must-watch for providers and anyone interested in truly understanding the female body.

At Hands On Health, we specialize in working with the fascial system to address these deeper patterns — moving beyond symptoms to support true, whole-body healing for women at every stage of life. 💛

Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) and hEDS are often misunderstood as simply "being flexible." Groundbreaking research from Dr. Tina Wang () is helping to shift this narrative, revealing these conditions as complex fascial remodeling disorders.

Key Insights from the Fascia-Centered Model:
- Beyond Loose Joints: Research shows widespread changes in cell signaling, immune activity, and tissue structure.
- The "Velcro" Effect: Instead of sliding smoothly, fascial layers can become "sticky," leading to pain, stiffness, and proprioceptive confusion.
- The Immune-Autonomic Link: Mast cell activity and chronic inflammation create a feedback loop affecting the autonomic nervous system—offering a mechanistic explanation for fatigue, dizziness, and GI distress.

🌟 Exciting news from Hands On Health NOLA! Last year, Dr. Kelly Davis completed an advanced craniofacial and airway training course at the renowned Hobson Institute, under the mentorship of the amazing Dr. Jenny Hobson ()

📖 Joining forces with Cate Bloom, (MS, CCC-SLP, CLC) and certified myofunctional therapist, Dr. Kelly brings over two decades of experience in craniosacral and myofascial therapy. Craniosacral therapy is vital for relieving tension throughout the entire human lifespan—supporting everyone from infants to adults! Together, we focus on neuromotor breathing and orofacial myofunctional therapy to optimize the alignment of the tongue, TMJ, and cervical spine, effectively regulating the autonomic nervous system and addressing the root causes of airway dysfunction.

✨ Our holistic approach decreases tension and pain, provides essential postural support and neuromuscular stability, and enhances cellular oxygenation to alleviate systemic fatigue.

🌬️ Ready to breathe easier and move with confidence? Join us at Hands On Health NOLA to start your journey toward neurological balance and systemic relief! Stay tuned for more details on Dr. Kelly and Cate’s collaboration for airway therapy!

As we embrace the colder, darker days of the year, restorative yoga offers a beautiful opportunity to nourish our bodies with the rest and rejuvenation they crave. With the holiday season upon us and the mood shifts that often accompany shorter daylight hours, it’s common for our bodies to feel overwhelmed by stress and fatigue.

Restorative yoga is a gentle practice specifically designed to tune into your body’s needs and replenish its energy reserves through mindful movements. Unlike more vigorous styles of yoga, restorative yoga encourages you to move slowly, holding poses for several minutes. This extended time allows you to deeply relax, sinking into each pose and finding peace in intentional stillness.

This season, prioritize your well-being by giving yourself the gift of tranquility. Explore some of our favorite restorative poses—check out the graphics for inspiration! Your body and mind will thank you. 🌟🧘‍♀️

🌟 Supporting Lifelong Health Through Physical Therapy 🌟

At every age and stage of life, physical therapy plays a crucial role in maintaining health and well-being. Let’s take a moment to highlight a remarkable journey of one of our patients, 72-year-old Helen, who turned her life around with physical therapy.

👵 Helen’s Story:
After her knee replacement surgery, Helen faced challenges that made her feel limited and frustrated. She missed gardening, her favorite pastime, and spending time with her grandchildren. Through tailored manual physical therapy sessions, we focused on hands-on techniques, as well as strengthening her knee and improving her overall mobility.

Over the weeks, Helen not only regained her strength but also learned techniques to prevent future injuries. Now? She’s back in her garden, planting flowers and chasing her grandkids around the yard! 🌸🌼

Why Physical Therapy Matters:
👉 For Children: PT helps young athletes recover from injuries and improve their performance, ensuring they stay active and healthy.
👉 For Young Adults: It addresses issues like posture and ergonomics, especially for those in demanding jobs or sports.
👉 For Midlife: We tackle age-related concerns, helping patients manage chronic pain and maintain an active lifestyle.
👉 For Older Adults: Customized programs focus on balance, strength, and flexibility, allowing seniors to stay independent and engaged in their communities.

🌈 Let’s Move Together:
Physical therapy isn’t just about recovery; it’s about empowering individuals to live their best lives, no matter their age. Whether it’s running a marathon or simply walking to the mailbox, we’re here to support every step of the way!

👉 Tag someone who inspires you to stay active, and share your own stories with us in the comments! 💚
